HP to set up tourist security force
Tribune News Service

Shimla, August 18
Himachal Pradesh will set up a tourist security force to provide dedicated
manpower to assist tourists who visit the hill state in large numbers.

Speaking at the inter-state regional conference of state tourism ministers at
New Delhi today, secretary, tourism, Manisha Nanda, said the specialised force
would act as a bridge between the tourists and the police.

She requested the union tourism ministry to provide liberal financial assistance
for implementing the proposal which would go a long way in the promotion of
tourism.

She said the state government also proposed to start heli-taxi services for
optimal utilisation of 57 helipads set up in remote and inaccessible areas of
the state and sought central help based on viability gap funding.

She urged the Centre to extend time limit fixed for completion of various
tourism infrastructural projects in the state keeping in view the tough
geographical conditions and pleaded for additional funds.

Pilgrims reach Manimahesh for icy dip
Our Correspondent

Chamba, August 27
Devotees of Lord Shiva, including tourists from different parts of the country,
are making a beeline to have a holy bath in the icy waters of the famous
Manimahesh Lake nestled in the northwestern mountainous ranges of the mighty
Himalayas in Chamba district on the auspicious occasion of Radhashtmi.

The number of pilgrims to have the holy dip is expected to go beyond the figure
of 50,000, according to an official report.

About three lakh pilgrims, thronging Manimahesh from different parts of Himachal
Pradesh and the neighbouring states in over one month's continuous pilgrimage,
had already visited the famous shrine. This is the higher ever record of the
number of devotees in the history of Manimahesh yatra.

Devi Singh Negi, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Bharmour tribal
subdivision, said pilgrims, including men, women and children from all walks of
life, actively participated in the pilgrimage.

"Such is the faith of devotees that they battle all odds to reach for the
auspicious day. They offer prayers to Lord Shiva to redeem them from sins and
purify their hearts," the ADM added.

Dal lake fair begins
Tribune News Service

Dharamsala, August 27
The three-day Dal lake fair began with fervour after inauguration by Minister
for Industries Kishan Kapoor. Motivated by religious devotion, a large number of
devotees from across the district transcended to the lake despite its water
being drained by the district administration for de-silting operation.

The devotees had to content themselves with taking bath in small "kunds"
(natural water sources).

The minister, while speaking on the occasion, said a master plan had been
envisaged to develop the entire Dal lake area. Over the year, the depth of the
lake had reduced due to silting from adjoining hills. The lake was now being
de-silted up to a level of about 10 feet, he added.

The administration also has the proposal for flooring the bottom of the lake.
However, many people are critical of the proposal. They are of the view that it
might reduce the water seeping from hills into the lake. In many cases, ponds in
hills, that were provided with concrete lining, failed the objective of storing
water.

The mid-altitude Dal lake is located at a distance of about 11 km from
Dharamsala in Tota Rani village.

The lake, which is a natural water body at a height of 1,775 metres from the sea
level, is surrounded by deodar trees and is a tourist attraction. Local
residents consider it sacred as there is a Shiva temple located on its banks.

Dear All,

Youth Enlightening the Society (YES) a non-profit based out of Shimla
and a VOHnetwork partner is organising a blood donation camp in Shimla
on the 29th August 2009.

To further our work in supporting the voluntary blood donation
movement in Himachal, YES and VOH have planned similar camps in other
areas of the state. The next one will be in Solan on 12th September.

We plan to organise more such camps every month and seek volunteers as
well as donors who can contribute money for organising such camps. On
an average such a camp costs Rs.10,000/-.

You contributions will go a long way in supporting the blood donation
movement in the state as well as fulfill the needs of needy patients
who find it hard to get blood in times of emergencies.

Please revert back if you want to associate with this cause.

Hello dear.
Why don't u think about starting ur own bussiness. U are a well
educated person, and its time to look forward to other aveneus apart
from job field. If u have agricultural land u can start vegitable
farming alongith other perenial plants/crops farming . this will
change the world for u. there is very little investment in this field.
and as u know more and more people are running away from agricultural
, this field will be in great ( i think at no 1 ) demand in coming
years.
So if u want to be among the first movers than let me know . I will
certainly guide u in this venture.
Thanks and regards

Hello dear.

How are you ?

Well regarding your answer its a topic of a kind which I think should be understood by everyone as Himachal Pradesh have its own very batiful and natural beauty. But the concern is about how many of us are aware of this?

1st is we have to make people understood about the harms of destroying the nature which we are seeing today using the education or some other source like media or some local sources.

2nd is little bit a more labourious. i.e. the as our country is develing day by day but still there are some parts of Himalyas where life is fully dependent on cutting doen trees. So their living values must be understood and improved.

There are many efforts that are possible but the matter is that how we people think towards the nature.

Thanks.

Hello Dear ,how r u?

Well thanks for your supportive compliments.

I am fully agree with you its our responsibilty that we tell our offsprings that what would be the ills of destroying the nature espacially those which are fully furnished with flora and fauna.

I think is'nt it better to save  and  harvest water also for the repleshipment of nature and its sources ?
