Dear Sisters & Brothers,

We worship Maa Jagadambaa in Navaraatra with spiritual and religious
goals. But, it has a great social theme also.
In Durgaasaptshatee, Shumbh and Nishumbh propose to marry Maa
Ambikaa. Their messengers -- Chand and Mund go to Maa and tell the
Marriage proposal of their Masters.
Maa Ambikaa answers to them very politely--
I have taken an oath that I will marry only the person who
will conquer me in the war . So, tell your Masters to meet me in the
war to marry me.... Shumbh and Nishumbh accept and start war against
Maa and were killed by Maa Ambikaa.... Thereafter, Maa marries willingly
with Bhagawaan Sadaashiv.
This was the first proclamation of wemen's Liberation movement, but
was with full awareness and healthy view to the issue...
Navaraatra is the time to take an oath for Empowerment of Wemen.
Let us study Durgaasaptashatee and other religious Books and imbibe
their real meaning and purpose of their creation.
