Claimed to be world's first integrated search tool, Blinkx is a
unique search tool as it is based on two characteristic but novel
features: smart folders (which automatically update the contents of a
folder, hence so called) and "stuff-I-have-seen" (SIS). It in
fact is a unique search experience. The website claims it as "the
smartest thing on your computer, (it) is changing the way that people
think about search technology." Free-to-download, "blinkx
automatically and intelligently links to relevant information
anywhere and in any format: on the Web, in the news or on the
desktop."
Brad Stone in Newsweek writes: "Instead of users type in
keywords, Blinkx sits on your screen and scours the Web and your hard
drive for you." (International edition, Singapore, November 29,
2004, p-13). Sunday Times (Times Online, November 21, 2004,
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2095-1367263,00.html) called
it Britain's answer to Google.
A San Francisco start-up, blinkx is a privately-held firm based in

other co-founder. Former Yahoo! Europe Chief, Mark Opzoomer, is its
Chief Executive Officer. Highly recommended. Launched in July 2004,
its 2.0 version was released on November 15, 2004. Check it (and also
