Dear Citizens,

The dastardly terror attacks that took place in Mumbai last night and today leading to the loss of many precious lives and injuries to many others have deeply shocked the nation. I strongly condemn these acts of senseless violence against innocent people, including guests from foreign countries. I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and sympathies to those injured. The Government will take all necessary measures to look after the wellbeing of the affected families, including medical treatment of injured.

The well-planned and well-orchestrated attacks, probably with external linkages, were intended to create a sense of panic, by choosing high profile targets and indiscriminately killing foreigners.

I salute the courage and patriotism of the police officers, including the Chief of the Anti-Terror Squad, Shri Hemant Karkare and men who have laid down their lives in fighting these terrorists. I assure the country that we will attend in an urgent and serious manner to police reform so that the law and order authorities can work unitedly, effectively and in a determined manner to tackle such threats to national integrity.

We are not prepared to countenance a situation in which the safety and security of our citizens can be violated with impunity by terrorists. It is evident that the group which carried out these attacks, based outside the country, had come with single-minded determination to create havoc in the commercial capital of the country.

We will take the strongest possible measures to ensure that there is no repetition of such terrorist acts. We are determined to take whatever measures are necessary to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.

Insruments like the National Security Act will be employed to deal with situations of this kind. Existing laws will be tightened to ensure that there are no loop-holes available to terrorists to escape the clutches of the law. Most importantly, it is essential to immediately set up a Federal Investigation Agency to go into terrorist crimes of this kind and ensure that the guilty are brought to book.

We will take up strongly with our neighbours that the use of their territory for launching attacks on us will not be tolerated, and that there would be a cost if suitable measures are not taken by them. We will take a number of measures to strengthen the hands of our police and intelligence authorities. We will curb the flow of funds to suspect organizations. We will restrict the entry of suspects into the country. We will go after these individuals and organizations and make sure that every perpetrator, organizer and supporter of terror, whatever his affiliation or religion may be, pays a heavy price for these cowardly and horrific acts against our people.

In this hour of tragedy, I appeal to the people to maintain peace and harmony so that the enemies of our country do not succeed in their nefarious designs. All concerned authorities are on alert and will deal sternly with any attempts to disturb public order.

I am confident that the people of India will rise unitedly to face this grave challenge to the nation´s security and integrity.

Jai Hind !

Manmohan Singh,
Prime Minister [India]

The Taj Mahal Palace hotel resort was commissioned by Jamsetji Tata
and first opened its doors to guests on December 16, 1903. Tata allegedly
decided to build the luxurious hotel after he was refused entry to one of the
city's grand hotels of the time, Watson's Hotel, as it was restricted to
`whites only'. The original Indian architects were Sitaram Khanderao Vaidya
and D. N. Mirza, but the project was completed by an English engineer
W. A. Chambers. The cost of construction was 421 million Rupees. During
the World War I, the hotel was converted into a 600-bed hospital.

The side of the hotel seen from the harbor is actually its rear. The front faces
away to the west. There is a widespread misconception that the architects'
building plans were confused by the builder so that he built it facing away from
the harbor. This is not true, as the hotel was deliberately built facing inland rather
than to the harbor. This was probably a deliberate snub to the British king by
Jamsedji Tata due to nationalist feelings. Some people believe that the front of the
hotel had to face inland because the horse carriages, in which guests came to the
hotel, could easily approach the hotel from the city. The carriages were then
taken to Wellington Mews. Five decades ago, the old front was closed off, and
access is since then through the harbour-side entrance.

There used to be a Green's Hotel at the Apollo Bunder, which was purchased
by the Taj Mahal Hotel. It was at the Green's Hotel, that a small group of
pro-Indian Goans (largely employees of the Indian state and communists)
assembled and formed the Goan Liberation Council demanding that Portugal
cede Goa to India, in the 1950s. This was done at the instigation of Jawaharlal
Nehru, and funded by the Kamani Group of Companies. In 1973, Green's hotel
was demolished and the present Tower wing was constructed in its place.

And... November 26, 2008 emerged as the black day in the history of Taj

And after a gun battle of more than 24 hours, at around 11.35 PM on 27th November,
"All hostages at Taj Hotel in Mumbai have been rescued, but there could be some still
trapped at Trident hotel and Nariman House where operations were on to flush out
terrorists", Maharashtra police chief A N Roy said on Thursday, ruling out any
negotiations with the terrorists."

The damage has already happened.. Death toll of more than 125 people with more
than 400 injured, the never sleeping city of India has for sure seen almost 2 days
of sleepless nights. The beauty of Taj is also damaged a lot. Its true it can be bought
back to its original state but what about the lives of those innocent people and the brave
police people who gave their lives for a cause......? ???

The left-handed batsman, whose blazing 138 not out in the series opener at Rajkot on Friday floored England - they lost by a huge 158 runs - had to play in a slightly different manner to the previous effort and still came out trumps while making 118.

Yuvraj struck two sixes and 15 fours and also cobbled a crucial century stand with in-form opener Gautam Gambhir
www.forwards4all.com

Opener Gautam Gambhir slammed his second successive half century in the series when making 70 in 76 balls with six fours and a six, to rally the home team from a dismal 29 for three to 163. Gambhir and Yuvraj pulled India out of the rut with a stand of 134 in 126 balls after team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat.

Towards the end Yusuf Pathan, who failed at Rajkot, hammered an unbeaten 50 in only 29 balls by clobbering four sixes, including two in the last over bowled by Steve Harmison, and two fours to finish the innings on a high note.

The hosts lost the wickets of opener Virender Sehwag (1), Suresh Raina (4) and Rohit Sharma (3), all to the bowling of Stuart Broad, before the fourth wicket duo of Yuvraj and Gambhir steadied the ship.

England's bowlers, led by Stuart Broad, recovered from the mauling they received at Rajkot and took the first step towards turning around their fortunes in India by restricting a powerful batting order at the start of the innings

Earlier, Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat and retained the XI that thrashed the tourists by 158 runs at Rajkot on Friday. England too reposed faith in their losing XI despite Ryan Sidebottom, who missed the opener due to a heel injury, fit to play and available

TOP 10 STRANGEST THINGS IN THE UNIVERSE

10. Hypervelocity Stars
www.forwards4all.com

If you've ever gazed at the night sky, you've probably wished upon a shooting star (which are really meteors).

But shooting stars do exist, and they're as rare as one in 100 million.

In 2005, astronomers discovered the first "hypervelocity" star careening out of a galaxy at nearly 530 miles per second (10 times faster than ordinary star movement). We have ideas about what flings these rare stars into deep space, but aren't certain; anything from off-kilter supernova explosions to supermassive black holes might be responsible.

9. Black Holes
www.forwards4all.com

Speaking of black holes, what could be stranger?

Beyond a black hole's gravitational border -- or event horizon -- neither matter nor light can escape. Astrophysicists think dying stars about three to 20 times the mass of the sun can form these strange objects. At the center of galaxies, black holes about 10,000 to 18 billion times heavier than the sun are thought to exist, enlarged by gobbling up gas, dust, stars and small black holes.

What about mid-sized types? Perhaps surprisingly, evidence is both scarce and questionable for their existence.

8. Magnetars
www.forwards4all.com

The sun spins about once every 25 days, gradually deforming its magnetic field.

Well, imagine a dying star heavier than the sun collapsing into a wad of matter just a dozen miles in diameter that spins once every few seconds.

Like a spinning ballerina pulling his or her arms inward, this change in size spins the neutron star -- and its magnetic field -- out of control.

Calculations show these objects possess temporary magnetic fields about one million billion times stronger than the Earth's. That's powerful enough to destroy your credit card from hundreds of thousands of miles away, and deform atoms into ultra-thin cylinders.

7. Neutrinos
www.forwards4all.com

Pull out a dime from your pocket and hold it up for a second. Guess what? About 150 billion tiny, nearly massless particles called neutrinos just passed through it as though it didn't even exist.

Scientists have found that these particles originate from stars (living or exploding), nuclear material and the Big Bang. The elementary particles come in three "flavors" and, stranger still, seem to disappear.

Because neutrinos occasionally do interact with "normal" matter, such as water and mineral oil, scientists hope they can use them to see beyond parts of the universe obscured by dust and gas.

6. Dark Matter
www.forwards4all.com

If you put all of the energy and matter of the cosmos into a pie and divvy it up, the result is shocking.

All of the galaxies, stars, planets, comets, asteroids, dust, gas and particles account for just 4 percent of the known universe. Most of what we call "matter" -- about 23 percent of the universe -- is invisible to human eyes and instruments. For now.

Scientists can see dark matter's gravitational tug on stars and galaxies, but are searching feverishly for ways to detect it first-hand. They think particles similar to neutrinos yet far more massive could be the mysterious, unseen stuff.

5. Dark Energy
www.forwards4all.com

What really has everyone on the planet confused -- including scientists -- is dark energy.

To continue with the pie analogy, dark energy is a Garfield-sized portion at 73 percent of the known universe. It seems to pervade all of space and push galaxies farther and farther away from one another at increasingly faster speeds.

Some cosmologists think this expansion will leave the Milky Way galaxy as an "island universe" in a few trillion years with no other galaxies visible.

Others think the rate of expansion will become so great that it will result in a "Big Rip." In this scenario, the force of dark energy overcomes gravity to disassemble stars and planets, the forces keeping particles sticking together, the molecules in those particles, and eventually the atoms and subatomic particles. Thankfully, humankind probably won't be around the witness to cataclysm.

4. Planets
www.forwards4all.com

It might sound strange because we live on one, but planets are some of the more mysterious members of the universe.

So far, no theory can fully explain how disks of gas and dust around stars form planets -- particularly rocky ones.

Not making matters easier is the fact that most of a planet is concealed beneath its surface. Advanced gadgetry can offer clues of what lies beneath, but we have heavily explored only a few planets in the solar system -- the first planet outside of our celestial neighborhood was only detected in 1999.

3. Gravity

The force that helps stars ignite, planets stay together and keep objects orbit is one of the most pervasive yet weakest in the cosmos.

Scientists have fine-tuned just about every equation and model to describe and predict gravity, yet its source within matter remains a complete and utter mystery.

Some think infinitesimal particles called gravitons exude the force in all matter, but whether or not they could ever be detected is questionable.

2. Life
www.forwards4all.com

Matter and energy abound in the universe, but only in a few places is the roll of the cosmic dice perfect enough to result in life.

The basic ingredients necessary for this strange phenomenon are well understood, thanks to great access to life here on Earth. Still, the exact recipe -- or recipes -- to go from organic compounds to organism is a prevailing mystery.

Scientists continue to seek out new areas in the solar system where life might thrive, and such explorations could help lead to a compelling scientific theory for life's origins on Earth.

1. The Universe
www.forwards4all.com

The source of energy and matter -- the universe itself -- is the penultimate mystery of all time.

A widespread afterglow called the cosmic microwave background is thought to be the oldest fingerprint of the universe's creation, which scientists think began as an ultra-hot, ultra-dense point of energy (aka the "Big Bang").

Ever-stretching space also seems to support a phenomenal expansion of energy about 13.7 billion years ago.

Describing, measuring or hypothesizing about time before the event, however, is likely impossible.

Still, atom smasher searches for particles that formed shortly after the Big Bang could shed new light on the universe's nature -- and make it quite a bit less strange than it is today.

Top 10 Most Expensive Accidents in History

#10. Titanic
$150 Million
The sinking of the Titanic is possibly the most famous accident in the world. But it barely makes our list of top 10 most expensive. On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank on its maiden voyage and was considered to be the most luxurious ocean liner ever built. Over 1,500 people lost their lives when the ship ran into an iceberg and sunk in frigid waters. The ship cost $7 million to build ($150 million in today's dollars).

#1. Chernobyl
$200 Billion
On April 26, 1986, the world witnessed the costliest accident in history. The Chernobyl disaster has been called the biggest socio-economic catastrophe in peacetime history. 50% of the area of Ukraine is in some way contaminated. Over 200,000 people had to be evacuated and resettled while 1.7 million people were directly affected by the disaster. The death toll attributed to Chernobyl, including people who died from cancer years later, is estimated at 125,000. The total costs including cleanup, resettlement, and compensation to victims has been estimated to be roughly $200 Billion. The cost of a new steel shelter for the Chernobyl nuclear plant will cost $2 billion alone. The accident was officially attributed to power plant operators who violated plant procedures and were ignorant of the safety requirements needed.

Suzuki Cervo : Maruti's answer to Tata Nano...

The battle for the small car is getting hotter. Soon after the Tatas stunned the world with a Rs 1 lakh car, Nano, Hyundai stated its intention to come out with a car that could cost less than Rs 2 lakh and hit the road by 2011.

And now, auto biggie Maruti-Suzuki too is ready with Its small car. The little car could hit the road, they say, as early as the end of this year or early 2009.
The Suzuki car will come closest to rival Nano. It will sport a Suzuki 660cc engine - as against Nano's 623cc - and wear a tag of around Rs 1.5 lakh on road (that is, excluding insurance) - a little higher than Nano, which is expected to be Rs 1.25 lakh on road. The car might be called 'Suzuki Cervo'.
Have a look at some pictures of the Japanese Suzuki Cervo... Looks Cool...

And this is ur most expected Nano, the Tata product. Now u can decide which is sexy...

I'm not having an affair with Sreesanth

Recently there were talks of actress Shriya Saran having a thing for cricketer Shreesanth.

A few days ago, the two had taken part in a fashion show in Mumbai. Allegedly the pair had dinner later and left in a car together.

Onlookers apparently claimed that Shriya was hitting on Shreesanth big time!

But the lady has now categorically denied rumors which suggest that she's in love with the cricketer!

Calling all the reports false, Shriya said, "I am acting in a movie directed by Deepa Mehta. I am preparing myself for it. There is no place for romance in my life now. I am committed to acting. I have not met Sreesanth before and never spoken to him."

We understand you are committed to your career and all that. But there's no smoke without fire, right Shriya?

Subject: [Twenty20Cricket] Laxman slams media on retirement calls

After scoring his second double century against Australia in third
cricket Test here, V.V.S. Laxman slammed the media for raising
questions on the seniors' place in the team.

Laxman, who scored a classy unbeaten 200 and together with Gautam
Gambhir (206) helped India to score a mammoth 613 for the loss of
seven wickets in the first innings at Feroz Shah Kotla here Thursday,
also said the Australian team paid heavily for adopting a defensive
approach in the four-match series, which India lead 1-0.

"Right from the start they were very defensive, which is quite
uncharacteristic of an Australian team. Our captain Anil Kumble,
despite being under pressure, always spoke about our team. But Ponting
chose to focus more on India. So you can see they were on the
defensive right from the start of the series," Laxman told reporters
after the end of second day's play.

The 33-year-old Hyderabadi said the negative stories on the longevity
of the senior players that came in the media in the run-up to the
Border-Gavaskar Trophy helped the team to stay positive.

"The Doubting Thomasses were in the media. There was no talk in the
team. The team management and the selectors always gave me the
confidence. Unfortunately all the stories that built up before the
series were very negative, but we took it in a positive way. Because
of all the negativity in the media we have done well in the series so
far," he said.

Laxman went on to add: "It is the media which keeps on advising the
senior players to retire. The players are well aware of their
responsibilities. They know when to take the decision and they are
mature enough to do it."

Laxman said the double century was satisfying.

"After a long time I got a score more than 150. I was scoring 100s,
but not getting big centuries. It is a good sign for me," he said.

The wristy batsman said after failing to score in the first two Test
matches he was very eager to score a big one at the Kotla.

"It was unfortunate that I was not able to contribute in the first two
Tests. I was keen to contribute here. It was very important for us to
get a big first-innings score here so that we could put the pressure
on the Australians, " he said.

Laxman also said his knock was very important from personal point
because he didn't throw his wicket away after getting the hundred.

"It was very important for me to carry on and get a big score and not
throw it away after scoring a 100," he said.

Laxman Gambhir hit Double-tons against Aussies

www.forwards4all.com

Riding on the unbroken 236-run stand between unbeaten centurions Gautam Gambhir (191) and VVS Laxman (104), India reached a commanding 393 for three wickets at lunch on day two of the third cricket Test against Australia.

www.forwards4all.com

Resuming on the overnight score of 296 for three, both Gambhir and Laxman milked the Australian attack dry with consummate ease as India went on piling runs, blunting the Australian attack.

www.forwards4all.com

A cover-driven boundary off Cameron White brought up his 13th Test century, his sixth against Australia. At the other end, Gambhir maintained his cool, helping himself to the occasional boundaries as well.

www.forwards4all.com

Gambhir's unbeaten 362-ball knock included 25 boundaries and a six, while Laxman, playing his 99th Test, hit 10 fours during his 174-ball stay so far.

Soon after lunch, Indian opener Gautam Gambhir reached to his maiden double hundred. In Pic: Gautam Gambhir raises his bat after scoring his maiden double century.

www.forwards4all.com

Watson, who was involved in an ugly spat with Gambhir on Wednesday, finally ended Gambhir's 550 minute vigil that included 26 boundaries and one six. Gambhir's inside edge disturbed the stumps.

www.forwards4all.com

It was another special from Laxman, who has been a thorn in the Aussies' flesh throughout his career. Laxman is a treat to watch when in full flow and at Kotla Thursday, the stylish Hyderbadi proved that his supple wrists are still better for a couple of years of cricket.

www.forwards4all.com

This was the first occasion when two Indians scored double centuries in a Test innings and also the first by two batsmen from any country to score against Australia. For Laxman, his 278-run partnership with Gambhir is another record, being his fourth stand over 2000 runs. The stand was also the best for any wicket at Kotla, eclipsing the 267 by West Indians Clyde Walcott and Gerry Gomez in the first Test played here in 1948.

www.forwards4all.com

After the fall of Kumble, Zaheer Khan hit five fours in his 21-ball 28 and the moment Laxman got to his double century the declaration came.

and the annual School Day ,

And the one-month long

preparations for them.

Gone are the days

Of the stressful Quarterly,

Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most

enjoyed holidays after them!

Gone are the days

Of tenth and twelfth standards, when

We Spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!

We learnt,

We enjoyed,

We played,

We won,

We lost,

We laughed,

We cried,

We fought,

We thought.

With so much fun in them, so many friends,

So much experience, all this and more!

Gone are the days

When we used

to talk for hours with our friends!

Now we don't have time to say a `Hi'!

Gone are the days

When we played games on the road!

Now we
plan on the road with laptop!

Gone are the days

When we saw stars
 Shining at Night!

Now we see stars when our plan doesn't work !

Gone are the days

When we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!

Now we chat in chat rooms......!

Gone are the days

Where we studied just to pass!

Now we study to save our job!

Gone are the days

Where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our hearts!!

Now we have the atm as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!

Gone are the days

Where we shouted on the road!

Now we don't shout even at home

Gone are the days

Where we got lectures from all!

Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....!!

Gone are the days

But not the memories, which will be

Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and

Ever and ever and ever .....

Gone are the Days.... But still there are lot more Days to come in our Life!!

NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE ,

DONT FORGET TO

LIVE THE LIFE THAT STILL

EXISTS...... . .....
