Re: [designindia] Re: International conference on Ageing in India

Dear Mr. Arun Gupta,

My irritation is not with aging...but how its being portrayed. 2 basic points I
raised:

1)   Why this conference doesn't include design professionals...and if not, then
why its posted in Designindia.

2)  If aging is not a roaring problem in India (being in fashion business, as u
have kindly mentioned...I should have supported this conference...to sell a few
more packs of Botox or anti wrinkle creams...how fool I am..:)...) then why we
need to arrange such gatherings....is not it just a "blind copy" of what’s
happening in America?...as u must hv knwn, a pack of botox is far costlier than
a bag of rice...or this conference is to create "new opportunities for the
American drug & beauty market?

Can u please clarify (in behalf of the organizers…as a sympathizer of such
conferences)...?

best regards,

Dear Mr Kaustav SenGupta,

You being in the business of Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories, one can
understand your impatience with the idea of the elderly (and old age
in general). But the old do exist, and in India as well.

Even though the number of young people (the gleeful target group of
so much of 'liberalised' design) in India IS very large (and growing,
as you rightly point out), India is also host to a substantial (and
growing) number of people who are old (and poor; and therefore not of
interest to mainstream market/profit oriented design professionals &
firms).

I have nothing to do with the conference on ageing; but I found your
gung ho dislike of ageing in bad taste.

Sorry,
