That is really an angry call!
I hope all who are criticizing new Indian Post logo have great credentials proof
points of being good designers apart from their degrees. Honestly if we start to
debate good design and bad design in this country can we say designs produced by
the blue blooded designer will all fall into good design category? The new
controversial (within design community) logo, I feel, is very old fashioned,
naive and simplistic. A logo suitable for any Post company!
I want to clarify one point about earlier identity of India Post designed by
Late Prof R K Joshi, who is one of the finest calligraphers typographers and
designers of India.
He designed identity for Indian Post in 1989. For those who are not aware please
see the identity developed by him. (attached file)
Or visit following links to see the logo and signage.

As Uday pointed out the bigger problem that Indian Post needs to tackle- their
customer and employee experience. Logo is a small part of total brand
experience. If they improve the whole experience, we may start liking this logo!
By the way, My experience with ICICI and Citi bank is more or less similar to
Uday's experience with Indian post. Here, you do not even get a file or a human
being to catch! And if you forget your pin you do not exist!! Neither you can
call a government official or minister to solve the problem! Just that one gets
to experience air-conditioned, glossy environment.

"Well, I would infact say yes. The India Post campaign. I did the entire
corporate identity manual, but the execution was a little disappointing. I
see now, I should have been more assertive at the time, but these I feel are
big organizations and they have their own set of issues and problems to look
at. I feel it could have been very successful if implemented well. Another
was one with the Indian railways, but anyway, its all history now!"
