"Envisioning Design in Business Strategy"

I am pleased to inform you that the initiative taken by Confederation
of Indian Industry (CII) in association with National Institute of
Design (NID) to assess the current scenario, future trends and
promotion of design in the Indian industry has entered its 4th year in
the form of a major annual event, "CII-NID Design Summit 2004".

To further strengthen this initiative and to bring design to national
and corporate agenda the 4th Design Summit, scheduled on 8th and 9th
December 2004 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, aims to bring together
eminent scholars, practitioners, academia and users of design.

This year it is also planned to release the National Design Policy at
the Design Summit in association with Department of Industrial Policy
& Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

The theme for this year's summit is "Envisioning Design in Business
Strategy".  The Summit would encourage the Indian industry in
developing indigenous design, furthering innovation and creating
global Indian Brands.

The Summit would focus on various sectors such as :
- Automobiles,
- Lifestyle Products,
- Consumer Durables
- Electronics etc.

The earlier summits' themes were:
1.  "Managing Design in the New Millennium" Bangalore - 2001
2.  "Competitive Advantage Through Design" Delhi - 2002
3.  "Winning New Markets by Design" Mumbai - 2003
