Dear all,
7th CII-NID Design Summit scheduled on 12-13 Dec 2007 at Bangalore
International Exhibition Centre, Bangalore.
Latest programme has been uploaded on
www.designsummit.in
I hope you are planning to attend, and in case you can not- do put a
few pointers as to what we should be discussing at the Summit.
Besides the schedules speeches, lectures, presentations these
summits provide a very strong direction to design thinking based on
what gets discussed on the sidelines. Many times these discussions
are more stimulating and worthwhile than the official presentations.
This is where you should participate, irrespective of what the
summit themes are...this is my question.
what is it that you as a professional would want to discuss with
fellow designers?
For example- I have spent a good time of this past year in
Hospitals, not for professional reasons but personal..(four members
of my family had to undergo some surgery or the other)...and i wish
there was ceratin standard practices of dealing with the patients
and their relatives, i wish there was some attention to processes
and ofcourse their was design thought in various procedures and
equipments. I realise equipment redesign would be expensive and in
India we mostly have locally manufactured copyies of good designs
from the west...it is the process part where design can contribute
in a big way...who is to instituionalise that.. I have compiled a
small handbook and a presentation for hospitals and would be sharing
it with few client organisations..but i need this is one area that
needs a good amount of thought and encouragement.
So
what is it that you as a professional would want to discuss with
fellow designers?
regards
