LFY CD #2

Why do we have two versions of Linux For You now?
-------------------------------------------------
Linux For You was conceived with the aim of pushing Linux from labs to
offices. To
achieve this goal, we realised that we needed to reduce the pricing of
the main magazine
so that those who were not technical but curious about Linux/OSS could
access the
information. Hence, LINUX For You's main magazine was created as a
magazine for everyone
to read.
At the same time, the demand from the tech community was clear -- they
needed technical
content along with CDs that bundled the latest software and distros.
Hence, the combined
pack of LINUX For You and LFY PRO and 2 CDs are now available at Rs 100!
For more details about LINUX For You magazine, log on to

This communication aims to inform the Linux community about the
information contained in
Asia's only magazine on Linux and open source, and we hope that it

1.
Love Marriage: Resembles procedural programming
language. We have
some set functions like flirting, going to movies
together, making
long conversations on phone and then try to fit all
functions to the
candidate we like.
Arranged Marriage: Similar to object oriented
programming approach.
We first fix the candidate and then try to implement
functions on
her. The main object is fixed and various functions
are added to
supplement the main program. The functions can be
added or deleted.
2
Love Marriage: It is a throwaway type of prototype as
client
requirements rises with time thus it is a dynamic
system and
difficult to maintain.
Arranged Marriage: Requirements are well defined so
use of waterfall
model is possible.
3
Love Marriage: Family system hangs because hardware
alled parents
are not responding.
Arranged Marriage: Compatible with hardware Parents.
4
Love Marriage: You are the project leader so u are
responsible for
implementation and execution of PROJECT- married
life.
Arranged Marriage: You are a team member under project
leader
(parents) so they are responsible for successful
execution of project
Married life.
5
Love Marriage: Client expectations include exciting
feature as Spouse
cooking food, washing clothes etc.
Arranged Marriage: All these features are covered in
the SRS as
required features.
6
Love Marriage: Acceptance test possible you can try
before you Buy.
Arranged Marriage: Product is sold on an as is where
is basis.
Product once sold will not be taken back!
7
Love Marriage is like Windows, beautiful n
seductive........ yet one
never knows when it will crash........
Arranged Marriage is like Unix..boring n colorless...
still extremely
reliable n robust.

I thought this is a Linux Users Group for discussion of Linux related
problems. Bringing up such utterly ridiculous out of context issues
as the one mentioned in the poll is testament to the fact that the
objective of this forum is being forgotten and people are veering off
to issues that should not be of much concern. But this is just my
opinion. Anyone sharing my views should support me and write as well.
Looking forward to a healthy response from all people gifted with a
sense of priority.

As a thanks for accepting me as a member of your group, I would like
to share something with you guys.
Most Linux starters come up with a very common problem, and if you are
one then you know I am talking about configuring SOUND on your Linux OS.
Well, I found the solution and wanted to share it with you all.
It consists of 3 steps.
1. Check to see if your sound card is being detected using the Sound
Detection option in the Linux menu under System Tools or System Options.
If it is detected you should hear the play test sound.
But that is not good enough as we want to hear MP3ssssssssssss.
So Red Hat sighting legal issued, does not support mp3s by default on
XMMS. So you must install a package to do that, the package I have
uploaded in the files folder. It should get installed if you click on it.
2. If your sound card is not detected, that is no sound when you click
"PLAY TEST SOUND", then your sound card driver is not configured
properly. To do that you can download the latest version of ALSA
(Advanced Linux Sound Architecture). But the problem you might face is
that if you are a beginner, compiling and installing ALSA might not be
feasible for you. Look for expert help there or go to step 3.
3. Thats the beauty....... there is always an easier method.
Well, if you have an Intel original motherboard, then all you need to
do is go to its website www.intel.com, and download the appropriate
driver for the Linux version you have. You might ask, how do I install
that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, that is easy. The file you download is a
shell program, which if you run using the Linux terminal as "sh
filename.sh", your work is done. But as it is Linux, there is always a
catch. You must have the source code of your OS's kernel installed on
your system for the shell program to work. Get that and you are home.
Note: Sometimes sound also does not work when the right Audio plugin
is not selected in XMMS. For that, right click on XMMS, select
"Visualisations Plugins', select Audio I/O plugins, and then in the
OUTPUT plugin field, experiment with the options by changing them and
trying to play music to find out which works on your system.
Hope you enjoy listening to music.
Until next time, adios.

These pictures are absolutely incredible...the
message is pretty special, too!
Q: What is the shortest chapter in the Bible?
A: Psalms 117
Q: What is the longest chapter in the Bible?
A: Psalms 119
Q: Which chapter is in the center of the Bible?
A: Psalms 118
Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118
Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118
Add these numbers up and you get 1188.
Q: What is the center verse in the Bible?
A: Psalms 118:8
Q: Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our
lives?
The next time someone says they would like to find
God's perfect will for their lives and that they want to
be in the center of His will, just send them to the
center of His Word!
Psalms 118:8
"It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."
Now isn't that odd how this worked out (or was God in the center of it)?
Before sending this I said a prayer for you. Got a minute? 60 seconds for God?
All you do is say a small prayer for the person who sent you this.........
"Father God bless my friend in whatever it is that you know
he/she may be needing this day!
And may his/her life be full of your peace,
prosperity and power as he/she seeks to have a
closer relationship with You.
Amen"
Then send it on to 10 other people. Within hours 10 people have prayed
for you, and you caused a multitude of people pray to God for other people.
Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life...
When things get tough, always remember...
Faith doesn't get you around trouble, it gets you through it !!
