Life never tires of teaching us lessons. These are signatures of God, verily,
His insignia, which declare His presence to us each time they manifest
themselves. When Bhagavan Baba says 'Awareness is life’, He wants us to take
note of the Almighty’s signature all around us.

Someone has said, poets are those who can perceive things that we cannot. And,
therefore, poets communicate to us the experience of what we have missed: the
joy of exploration and discovery. God does just that. For, He is the Timeless
Poet, the Kavim Puranam. Like a true creative artist, He takes great joy in
showing His poems to us.
But when we fail to comprehend the surreal beauty of His poems, He sadly turns
His face away. Sometimes, God undertakes to compose special poems to remove our
special ignorance or answer our special quests. And when we finally begin to
understand His poetry, we realise that there is no joy better than connecting to
His joy.
I was sitting in the compound of the Primary School at Prasanthi Nilayam on a
visitors’ day. The whole campus was a festival of joy: children meeting their
parents and relatives while the others frisked about, playing games. There were
kids enjoying the caper and tumble of the see-saw, some others shrieking
delightedly on a swing, a few others disgorging themselves from the mouth of a
slide that resembled an elephant trunk – the entire scene looked like a
fairyland. I could see a couple of teachers walking around, keeping a watch on
the children.

Suddenly I discovered an interesting scene. A boy, barely in the second
standard, was standing a few feet from me, rubbing his eyes, and sobbing. An
older boy came up to him, and asked him why he was sobbing. One hand still
rubbing his eyes, he pointed out what was happening a little distance from him.
A teacher was gently reprimanding a couple of children.

Non-plussed, the older boy asked, “What? Why are you crying?”
“Teacher is scolding them,” he replied.

“She is scolding them, not you. Why do you cry?”
“They are my friends, my class,” the boy replied, whimpering.

The older boy did not know what to say.
Then the scene changed. The teacher lifted one of the boys, a tiny, cute-looking
chap, and carried him on her shoulder. Surely, she did not like to draw tears
from his eyes. The boy who was crying until now suddenly leapt up jubilantly.

Bewildered at this unexpected change, the other boy asked him, “Hey, what
happened? He's jumping in joy!”
“See, ma’m is loving my friend, she is carrying him.”
He jumped a few steps, and ran away.

I was not only speechless, but stupefied too! What an absolute identification
with another’s tears and smiles!

A few days ago I had read a cryptic message of Bhagavan Baba in which He said,
‘Love is a forgetting’. I did not really understand how love can be a
forgetting. Who forgets what? How can that be love? Now, Bhagavan in His great
kindness was showing me what is forgetting. It is forgetting oneself, forgetting
one’s separateness, and identifying one’s self with the other, the object of
love. This boy had so identified with his friend’s tears and smiles that he
forgot he was not being scolded or being loved, yet he experienced both. It was
perfect self-effacement, death of ego.

Therefore Bhagavan says love is egolessness, and ego is lovelessnesss. ‘True
love is when I live in the beloved, when I forget myself in the beloved; when a
river jumps into the sea and forgets its separate identity in the identity of
the sea’. Bhagavan wrote a little poem, a visible one, and taught me the
meaning of a great lesson. The joy of learning is always immense. I was floating
in joy for some weeks after this incident.

But that was not all. Bhagavan is never satisfied with teaching only a segment
or part of a lesson. And, no lesson that Bhagavan teaches can be circumscribed.
The dimensions of His lessons are always cosmic, expanding, and enveloping
endless situations. A few weeks after the aforesaid incident came dasara. It was
during the Veda Purusha Saptaaha Jnana Yajna (the holy sacrifice performed
during dasara celebrations), when we spent hours in Poornachandra Hall that I
was shown, one day, another interesting and, for me, elevating scene.

The ritual was going on, and people were coming and taking their place in the
hall. A father arrived with his three-year-old child and sat near me. She was a
chubby little girl, with a heartwarming dimpled smile. They sat down, and the
father wanted the baby to sit by him on the mat. But the child refused to sit on
the ground. She sat on her father’s lap, one hand around his neck. Then she
looked up at the pictures on the ceiling of Poornachandra, and started to ask
her father about each.

Yet, all the while, she resolutely remained on her father's lap, clinging on to
his neck tenaciously. I was so amused; I could not take my eyes off this child.
After a few minutes, she got probably tired of looking at the pictures, for now
she held her father’s neck in both hands, and hid her face on his shoulder.

Then it came to me in a flash. Bhagavan was teaching me an extension of my
previous lesson. If I could hold on to my Father like this! Sri Ramakrishna
Paramahansa used to tell his disciples, “Tie non-duality in a knot at the end
of your dhoti, and go wherever you would, you are safe”; which means, if one
is established in the knowledge of non-duality, the attractions of the samsara
(world) will have no power over him.

Sri Ramakrishna was using a word-metaphor to drive home a great lesson; now Baba
was using a picture-metaphor to drive home an immensely profound lesson. I
realized if I could hold on to my Father like this child, and refuse to budge
from His lap to give way to the attractions of the world, seeking comfort and
independence, I would be quite safe.

I may get interested in the many pictures of the world, but I must have one hand
firmly around my father’s neck, and listen to how He explains them to me,
forever ready to hold Him in both my hands, and take my eyes away from the
world, to hide myself in Him. My whole existence, then, is centred in my Father,
who is far more real than all the colours and shapes of the world. Needless to
say, my eyes and heart were overflowing.

This was a great lesson in surrender, an extension of true love. Love is a
surrender, and to surrender is to love. Both operate in the field of faith, of
implicit trust. One need not denounce the world, nor be too attached to it.
“Take it as shapes in shadow”, Bhagavan says, “for God alone is the
Sun”. Truly, God indeed is the Sun that illuminates all beings, all things
sensate and insensate. And when we begin to see Him, the Divine Indweller, in
every human heart, how can we not but feel and radiate the Love, that selfless,
unconditional, forgetting Love, which seeks no rewards but is its own reward?

THE MIGHT TO FOLLOW THE RIGHT
…at the cost of money, position, power or whatever

By Mr. Venkatraman Krishnamoorthy

An alumnus of Sri Sathya Sai University, Mr. Venkatraman Krishnamoorthy joined
the Prasanthi Nilayam campus to pursue his Masters in Business
Management during the years 1998-2000. After completing this degree, he joined
one of the largest private sector banks in India. Currently he is the Associate
Director at Standard Chartered Bank and is based in Mumbai. Additionally, he
plays an active role in the service projects of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva
Organization, Maharashtra.

In grueling moments, we realize that the competence which our ordinary business
books provide is not enough to enable us to make the right decisions. It’s
then we feel the need to reach the source of all knowledge – our heart – and
draw from there the required solution.

As Prof. William Miller, a respected management consultant, says: “Our
conscience provides guidance that comes directly from our inherent spiritual
nature. It is more than just discerning right from wrong. It is the voice of our
spiritual heart, our truest Self.”

A Commitment in Letter and Spirit

This incident is from the time when I was with a leading private sector bank. I
had joined in August 2000 and had spent almost a year in the new electronic
banking team and with the buildup we had created, the bank decided to hire 3
more people to handle the volume we expected. The recruitment was completed in
September 2001 and on the basis of the strength of the new team our management
took up a large number of projects.

Our immediate business head had committed the team to the new targets with the
bank’s Managing Director. But to everyone’s surprise the three newly
recruited employees in the team left the bank one after the other in a gap of 15
days.

Each of them mentioned a reason such as a better offer, or the new job was
different to that described to them, or they had to move due to family reasons.
The organization realized the consequences of their loss and tried to stop them
from leaving, but with little success.

Our bank was already committed to its customers on certain time bound projects
on the basis of the new staff strengths and there was no way to get out of those
commitments. We looked for temporary resources but that too did not work. The
next 3 months were going to be a struggle for my boss and I, since we both were
the only ones left in the team.

Two of us had to do the work of five. I was already putting in many hours
overtime and this extra workload I realized would push me to the limit and I
wondered how I was going to cope. My manager spoke to me for half an hour about
the difficult times ahead and told me how we had to take things in our stride
and get through it as best as we can.

It was at that meeting that I told him I had an offer from a leading MNC bank
(an offer I had without attending an interview, since a few colleagues from my
bank who had joined the new organization had spoken about my performance in the
current bank). But I also informed him that I had decided to stay on despite the
tough conditions, since it would be highly importune if I too left at that
critical time.
I silently remembered Bhagavan Baba’s words when He spoke to us in the
Institute auditorium on the MBA Anniversary Day:

“You should work hard in an organization for a minimum of five years to prove
your competence. Never demand an increase in salary and don’t change jobs
every now and then
for a few more rupees.”

My boss was at a complete loss for words, and seemed rather emotional. He was
just silent for 5 minutes and then quietly said, “I have worked for 25 years,
but this is one moment I will always carry in my heart.” It was evident that
he was bowled over by my decision to stay and help the company, but frankly I
had no other choice, as it was the voice of my conscience that was telling me
not to be selfish but to apply the sacred principles of loyalty,
conscientiousness and diligence. I knew that I had made an important choice
which not only would affect my future but also defined me as a person. Truly it
is in these times of crisis that we discover who we really are and I was
convinced that I made the right decision.

I knew that I had made an important choice which not only would affect my future
but also defined me as a person. Truly it is in these times of crisis that we
discover who we really are and I was convinced that I made the right decision.

We struggled hard for the next 5 months reporting to office at 8:45 a.m. in the
morning and returning home at 11:00 p.m. at night, sometimes stretching to 1:00
a.m. It was a testing time for both of us, but we were highly motivated and
fired up by the challenge. In the end we completed all the outstanding
commitments to the full satisfaction of our customers and only then could return
to a normal working environment.

I stayed in that bank for 6 years and finally moved to Standard Chartered Bank.
My boss too moved to another department but before I moved, on the last day, he
took me out for lunch and as we walked towards the exit, he kept his hand on my
shoulder and reflected on that day and said, “Four years after that incident
has passed, my mind still lingers on that one moment. Not one person of your age
would have taken that decision. I have seen many hardworking compatriots come
and go but none of them practice the axiom of ‘Keeping the organization
interests before one’s own interest. This mettle does not even come after many
years of work. You were able to do it only due to your educational background at
Sri Sathya Sai University”. He held my hand for a minute and said, “Your Sai
Baba will be very happy with the way you have worked here. You have fully lived
by HIS words”.

Courage is the greatest of all the virtues. Because if you don’t have courage,
you may not have an opportunity to use any of the others.

Morality and Principles vs. Money and Position

During the early days in my career as an Assistant Manager I was dealing with a
very important client, one of India’s largest private sector conglomerates.
The business from this client used to be extremely valuable and hence was
earmarked as an important and prestigious business relationship.

Along with a female colleague I used to visit different departments in the
corporate head quarters of this client. While returning from one such visit, the
girl burst into tears and confided that she was being harassed by a Senior
Vice-President of that company. I was shocked and felt that this issue must be
addressed immediately.
However my colleague was uneasy to take up this matter with our boss. I felt
indignant at this lewd behaviour and took courage to bring the issue to light,
despite knowing that my career might be at stake for taking on this powerful
corporate honcho. My courage however came from doing the right thing, from
following the Master within.

When the matter was raised, our business head advised the female colleague not
to visit this particular client, and so I had to take up her role. When I
visited Senior Vice President he was livid and behaved indecorously. He even
threatened that he would no longer have business with our bank unless the girl
came instead of me to deal with the company.

The client went further and complained to the country head about me, alleging
that I had misbehaved with him. It was a tense time for me as I was at the mercy
of powerful interests that did not care two hoots about me or my female
colleague – money was the god here and not the feelings of any individual or
morality.

To placate the client and safeguard the business relationship, my bank removed
me from that particular assignment. The business head called me and said, “I
have no option but to shift you from this role because if we don’t, the bank
will be hit and we can’t afford to lose this important and profitable
client.”
I felt I had taken the ethical course of action but I had to live with the
repercussions on the worldly plane. My career took a downturn with promotions
suffering for the next two years. My colleague then adjudged that my course of
being truthful and practicing values had cost me dearly, promotion as well as
career wise. She seemed to be preaching from the school which believes that
“Good guys finish last”.

But in all sincerity I was hardly perturbed by the turn of events, as I knew
this was just a temporary setback and the path to virtue was always strewn with
stones. What is the chance for greater remuneration compared to keeping my
heart’s cherished values? I do not ever want to compromise on these precious
principles to jump up the career ladder. I recall my stand for Dharma with a
glow, as I know that if I had not acted according to my conscience I would not
be the man I am today, and being true to myself is what is most essential to me.

know that if I had not acted according to my conscience I would not be the man I

I made this right decision as my values have never been corroded by desire for
money. My attitude has always been Spartan. I have learnt not to be interested
in the accumulation of money for the sake of luxury or power. As Bhagavan Baba
says, “Money is like blood and it should be in circulation if our health has
to remain good”. I am never elated by material profits. I think this is a very
important trait, particularly when one is working in an industry which is driven
only by hard crunching numbers. Looking at my stressed colleagues I realize that
this quality keeps me in a state of absolute peace.

In any case, to continue my story, a few months later I received a new offer
from another leading MNC bank which compensated me twice over, not only in terms
of salary but also in designation.
Justice seemed to be done when after some time the same Vice President’s
misbehavior with another lady employee came to light and led to a huge uproar in
that company. He was demoted and sent packing to a remote place to operate.

Getting the Correct Marks and Remarks

When I look back on my life I can see that receiving grounding in values right
from childhood has what helped me greatly in the development of my personality.
Without early value education, how can these virtues take root in our lives?

I am reminded of an incident that happened while I was studying in my 4th grade
in the primary school. Though I was only 8 at the time, I was able to pass
through a challenging situation in the class room with flying colours, thanks
to my parents’ training and family values which were engraved deep in my
heart right from my childhood.

I had scored 31% in the Geography paper examination. As per the
school practice, every student was given the corrected answer sheets to verify
the answers. When I received my paper, I went to a corner of the classroom and
focused, calculating the exact marks, and to my dismay found that the result
actually summed up to only 11 out 100!
At that point I could see the beeline of students trying to increase their
marks. But even at that young age, my heart directed me to take the paper to my
teacher to let her know that the marks were wrongly calculated and was much
below the accepted criteria.

My teacher was pleasantly shocked and very appreciative of my honest and
truthful approach. And despite my low marks, she made me stand right next to her
and addressed the whole class lauding me and the example that I had set. It is
this righteousness which has helped me succeed in my life till date.

The Unfolding of a Glorious Journey…

I was unaware that the Avatar of the age was walking on two feet in a humble
village in South India, till one day He decided to intervene. My younger sister
was a Bal Vikas (Sai Human Values Education) teacher and one fine day she
brought a MBA application form of the Sri Sathya Sai University for me to apply
to.

I submitted my application and was miraculously selected. In as much as I was in
love and awe of witnessing the gurukula system of education, it was very
difficult for me to understand the concept of Avatar and accept that God indeed
is walking in flesh and blood right in front of me. I struggled to establish a
relationship with Bhagavan Baba in the first few weeks. I had searched and
studied the scriptures for months to make sense of all that I "knew" about God
and our relationship with Him. I understood the basic tenets of spirituality but
had never been touched by any moving experiences.

But under His lotus feet as time went by, I came to find significant insights
into life and truths about myself that I had never before understood. And the
greatest insight of all is this: My blossoming relationship with God. Through
this new found awareness, something changed deep inside of me, leading me to
grow in ways I had never imagined.

Looking back, I know what happened to me is the most beautiful thing anyone in
this Universe can experience. It was real, but I also know that I probably
wouldn't have believed it unless I had experienced it myself. And what I have
shared in this article are a few insights and experiences of this wonderful
journey, an odyssey of pure love and righteousness that only gets exciting and
illuminating every passing day.

The Universe is visible to the naked eye. It is called Prapancha because it is a
manifestation of the Pancha Bhutas (five elements). There is no world without
the five elements. They are the very forms of the Divine. That is why people
reverentially refer to the five elements, namely, earth, water, air, fire and
ether, as Bhudevi, Gangadevi, Vayudeva, Agnideva and Shabda Brahman,
respectively. The five elements are present in every being. The Spirit or the
Atma which is the very form of God, is not visible to the naked eye, but the
Pancha Bhutas can be seen, heard, felt and experienced by one and all. They are
highly potent. Man is the embodiment of the five elements. He is their master.
One who understands the principle of these five elements becomes God Himself.

Human life is noble, sacred and precious. The way to realize this truth is to
feel that you are a part of the Divine. Only human beings are endowed with the
faculty to experience this truth. It is, therefore, the duty of every human
being to strive for the realization of this truth.

The human body is constituted by the Pancha Bhuthas (five elements), Pancha
Koshas (five sheaths) - Annamaya (food), Praanamaya (Life-force), Manomaya
(mental), Vijnaanamaya (intelligence) and Aanandamaya (the sheath of Bliss).
While other living beings have only the first three sheaths, the human species
alone has all the five.

Man is encompassed by attachment to worldly desires, which produce delusions of
various kinds related to the three attributes (gunas - Sathva, Rajas and
Thamas). To attain liberation man has to rid himself of these desires. The mind
is the cause of both bondage and liberation. It is only by controlling the mind
that man can achieve liberation.

Everyone is proud about the body, the mind and the intellect, forgetting the
indwelling Aathma (spirit), which is the basis for all of them. The Aathma has
no birth or death. It is the root of a tree, which sustains the branches, the
leaves, flowers and fruits. It is the basis on which the superstructure of life
rests.

The Meaning of True Renunciation

The Vedas (ancient Indian Scriptures) have declared that man can attain
immortality by thyaaga (renunciation) and not by any other means, be it actions,
wealth or progeny. What is it that has to be renounced? One has to renounce
one's bad qualities. Men today are only human in form, but are filled with
beastly qualities. To manifest their inherent divine nature, men have to
cultivate love of God, fear of sin and adhere to sanghaneethi (social morality).
When people have fear of sin and love for God, they will not indulge in immoral
acts. Thereby morality in society will automatically be ensured. It is
meaningless to be born as a human being and lead an animal existence. God can be
known only by experience and not by experiments. And for this, spiritual
practice is necessary.
Men who are engaged in exploring space do not make the slightest effort to
explore the Divine within them. Of what use are experiments aimed at exploring
space, while there is no genuine cultivation of human qualities and the practice
of such basic virtues as showing reverence for the mother, the father and the
preceptor? Everyone should act up to the motto – ‘Help ever, hurt never’.
Every educated person should engage himself or herself in selfless service to
society, with humility and a pure heart.

All academic distinctions or even observance of spiritual practices are of
little use if there is no love in the heart. The heart is called Hridaya. It is
made up of the two words, Hri and Daya (compassion). The Lord is described as
Hridayavaasi (the Indweller in the heart). Love and Compassion are inherent in
every person. Each has to share his love with others. Failure to share one's
love is gross ingratitude to society, to which one owes everything. One should
give one's love freely to others and receive love in return. This is the deep
significance of human life.

What is the message of SAI? "S" stands for Spirituality, "A" for Association and
"I" for Individual. It means that you must give first priority to spirituality;
next, to society (association) and only lastly attend to one's individual
interest. But, today man follows the reverse order, i.e., he holds his
individual interest above his social responsibilities and gives least priority
to spirituality. Consequently, he is distancing himself from God. In the first
instance, man should take to the path of spirituality and then serve society,
understanding the principle of unity. Only then will there be progress at the
individual level.

We are now living in times of great change and development ,and for the
first time in countless thousands of years we are seeing the coming into
our world the elder brothers of humanity and the great instructors of
the human evolution who have been overseeing our evolution since man was
in its infancy. There are 60 billion human souls who are linked with this
man bearing globe and therefore there are more souls that are out of
incarnation than there are who are now incarnating and evolving at any
given time.
Therefore we have millions of groups of humanity each taking there turns
to come into incarnation during any given times and cycles that are
working themselves out through out tremendous periods of time and
evolution and passing through many races, cycles, cultures that are so
beyond our comprehension. As souls we are evolving towards becoming a
soul infused human beings and the way we do this is to tread the path of
evolution and the path of initiation which all humanity at some time
during their evolutionary journey must tread.

The planetary Logos of this man bearing globe is at this time employing
the method of evolution to bring all humanity to the portals of
initiation and not all worlds are using this method at this time as it
is a rare experiment that is employed only on a few systems within our
solar system and so many other evolutionary endeavors are just evolving
according to the much longer and natural courses of evolution and
spiritual growth within their respective man bearing globes.'
With 60 billion souls who are connected with this earth some have gone
far ahead of us when it comes to their own individual development. Some
ego's make very rapid progress and may become Masters within any given
round or root race at a very fast rate and therefore they become the
elder brothers of the human race as they have passed through all of the
five planetary initiations that are required to make the grade and
become a Master of Wisdom
.
The greater bulk of humanity today have a very long road to tread before
they are ready in any way to begin a work of achieving initiation.
There are at this time about just under a million human beings that are
now in the world who have taken the first initiation, and about3-4
million who are on the very verge of taking the first initiation. The
first initiation is the birth of the higher self which must begin to act
on the physical planes and to have a measure of physical and astral
control before one can tread the path through the first gate and this is
marked as 1.0.There are always about6-7 lifetimes between going from
1.0-1.6 or 2.0 of which there are about 250,000 thousand. At about 2.5 we
have the begining of spiritual polarization just as we have achieved
mental polarization at about 1.6.

This system of measuring ones point of evolution was given to Benjamin
Creme'By his Master as a way of giving to the world the beginnings of a
science of initiation and of measuring ones rung on the ladder of
evolution. If you are interested in knowing more about this science then
go to 'The List of Initiates .com'and there you will find hundreds of
peoples of all kinds who have been initiates and who have made a great
contribution to our civilization age after age and have graduate d out
of the human evolution all together and have made a great sacrifice in
order to watch over the evolution of all mankind from their ancient
retreats in the mountainous regions of the world.

There shall eventually will be some 40 Masters who will make their way
into our world over the next 20 to 30 years and will as well precipitate
their Ashrams all over the globe where those who are ready will begin
with new ideas, and along with this shall we see the reopening of the
'Great Mysteries Schools'and many of them will be built upon some of the
same power points that were active during the fourth root race of
Atlantis which had a very tragic ending by all of the unnatural activity
going on all around us at time.
There are not very many 'high' initiates in the world and for those who
have taken the third initiation there are only about 4000 thousand third
degree initiates in the world at this time and they are serving in high
places within the U.N and are well known for the magnitude and sphere of
influence they have in the shaping of our culture and civilization ,and
when the initiate has reached about 3.5 the initiate is at last
spiritually polarized and is wrestling his way into a greater measure of
light and to ever shine as a beacon of light for those who still grope
within the lower astral and lower mental planes.

There are many people in the world that have no idea what initiation is
all about ,but the lives they all live are shining with the service they
may be involved in and for sure a person of love and a nature of
goodwill that extends beyond himself and out into the world as a man of
good will.

According to the Ageless Wisdom teachings the average human being today
stands at about somewhere between 0.3 and 0.6.Through out many eons of
time the human soul evolves slowly and makes its way up upon the ladder
of evolution with each and every incarnation and into a greater measure
of light .
After long ages and through out many lifetimes the time will come when
the human ego begins to enter the advanced stages when approaching the
gates of the first initiation and this begins at about [0.8]when flashes
of light and intuition is making itself known to the person who is thus
nearing the first initiation which is marked as [1.0]then one is truly
treading the path of spiritual evolution.

If you would go to 'List of Initiates.com'and there you will find many
of the people who have through out the ages have had a powerful effect
in our culture and civilization and which rays they have been influence
by.If you truly study this list carefully you may find for yourselves
where you stand upon the ladder of evolution,or what we may say as ones
'point of evolution'.In this list you will find people such as Mozart
3.0, Jesus 4.0,John Lennon 1.6,Malcom x 1.4 John F Kennedy 2.35 Nixon
1.6,Mithra 4.0,Elvis 0.8 Washington 3.5 and so on ,so check out this
list yourselves ,just go to <The List of Initiates.com>

Caught in the coils of the 'created,' man is blind to the fact that he is part
of the Divine Creator. Identifying himself with the physical sheath in which he
is encased, he is blind to the unity of all beings in the One Universal
Absolute. Man has written and studied countless texts on spiritual discipline
and discovery, and confounded the confusion, indulging in dialectical rivalries
and argumentation. But, he who has put at least a page or two of these tomes
into practise, is rendered silent and innocent of any desire for fame or
victory. He is happy in the depths of his being. He ploughs the field of his
heart, sows the seeds of love and reaps the harvest of fortitude and equanimity.

There were serpentine queues in every SHIVA temple on the eve of SHIVARATHRI.
Seeing all this, PARVATHI asked LORD SHIVA, "Just look at those thousands of
devotees thronging your temple to have your DARSHAN. Many of them stay awake
during the night; keep fast, sing Bhajans and so on. You must be really please
with their devotion."

The LORD always likes to test his devotees to check if the devotion is strong
enough. Just like how we feel the nail and try to move it after it is hit on a
wall to hang a picture frame!

The LORD said to his consort, "Poor devotees! They're braving the crowds
unmindful of the pull and the push waiting to have my glimpse. They don't
realize that I'm their 'indweller'! Anyway, let us go down & give them our
darshan." PARVATHI agreed to this suggestion and both of them decide to go &
give darshan in their original form itself! So they picked out a temple that had
the maximum crowd and started moving along with the crowd smiling at them &
blessing them.

The people started laughing at SHIVA & PARVATHI & said, "What a beautiful
costume you people are wearing? From which drama troupe have you come? Are you
both going to give a play here in this temple?" they asked.

SHIVA said, "It's me…LORD SHIVA! We're real. We thought we would come and give
you live darshan so that you don't have to put up with hours & hours of waiting
just to have my glimpse inside the temple."

The crowd roared in laughter & seemed to enjoy the show. "Fantastic piece of
make up. Is that snake for real?' somebody asked. Another asked PARVATHI, "WOW!
Look at those jewels. If they're real, they should be worth a few crores!!!"
People continued to push their way through the queue to get inside the Sanctum
Sanctorum.

PARVATHI said to the people, "We can perform whatever miracle you want us to do
because we're really what we claim to be. What proof do you want?"

To that somebody said, "Turn this temple into GOLD. In fact anything that is
metallic should turn into GOLD. Can you do that?" Everyone joined the chorus.
Yes, yes. Turn this temple into GOLD. The people started mocking them &
ridiculing them.

SHIVA just smiled & the next moment the entire temple complex was glittering
with GOLD!!! "Is this real?" some people asked. People who had coins in their
hands realized that even the coins had turned into GOLD. There happened to be a
GOLDSMITH there who shouted excitedly, "Hey! This is all real. No doubt at all.
IT IS ALL SOLID GOLD!!!"

Then pandemonium broke loose. People started running all over the place trying
to take whatever was loose outside the temple compound.

PARVATHI asked SHIVA, "Instead of taking our blessings and considering it their
fortune to have seen us and getting liberated from this cycle of birth & death,
why are they all running here and there?"

SHIVA told her, "They're not only taking the GOLD that's there but also getting
whatever metallic objects they can lay their hands on, like vessels, coins,
tools & so on. Then they would ask us to turn them into GOLD as well!!! Having
said that, SHIVA & PARVATHI just vanished and all the GOLD came back to its'
earlier original metallic form leaving everyone shell shocked trying to figure
out what had happened!!!

PS: During RAMAYANA that happened in 'TRETA YUGA' only a few recognized LORD
RAMA as GOD! Same in the case of KRISHNA AVATAR during DWAAPARA YUGA! There were
people who abused SHIRDI SAI BABA in his life time and SATHYA SAI BABA as well.

We don't know whether we were there during RAMA AVATAR nor do we know whether we
lived during KRISHNA AVATAR's time. We also don't know whether we were alive
during ADI SHANKARA or SRI RAGHAVENDRA or SHIRDI SAI BABA's time. (To name a
few)

But today the WORLD has RECOGNIZED & EXPERIENCED the presence of a POORNA AVATAR
in SATHYA SAI BABA in PUTTAPARTHI!!! The tens of millions who've been going
there for the last 68 years have clearly understood that the SECRET OF
LIBERATION ITSELF IS PRESENT THERE.

Once the organs of the body like eyes, ears, limbs became jealous of the tongue,
saying that they make all efforts for securing food, but the tongue enjoys this.
They stopped working and never sent any food. Tongue is the one that tastes the
food and passes only palatable items of food inside, which is converted by the
internal organs into energy giving blood. The tongue does not retain it. But for
this vital part played by the tongue, the other organs would not be able to
function at all. When the other organs became jealous of the tongue and stopped
sending food with a view to harm it, they spelt their own ruin by such action,
as they could not function when there was no food and consequently no supply of
energy for these organs to function. Similarly, jealousy on the part of a person
ultimately results in his own ruin.

The true dwelling place of God is the heart of man. You don’t need to go in
search of God. Not being able to recognize your innate divinity is Ajnana
(ignorance). You have to enquire into the reason for this ignorance. This is
mainly because you follow the Pravritthi Marga (outward path) all your life
under the influence of the sense organs, which are drawn towards external
objects. You are not making any effort to follow the Nivritthi Marga (inward
path). Thus, you are fully engrossed in the outward activities and are
completely neglecting the inward path. You see everything from a worldly point
of view and do not recognize the divinity that pervades it. You have to make an
effort to change your vision from outward to inward to perceive this divinity.

Prema (Love) has been described as beyond speech and mind. It is said to be
Anirvachaneeyam (indescribable). This love cannot be got through scholarship,
wealth or physical prowess. God, who is the embodiment of love, can be attained
only through love, just as the effulgent sun can be seen only by its own light.
There is nothing more precious in this world than Divine love. God is beyond all
Gunas (attributes). Hence, His love too is beyond attributes. Since human love
is governed by attributes, it results in either attachment or aversion. Love
should not be based on expectations of reward or return. Love based on such
expectations makes it a business deal. Love is not an article of commerce; it is
not like lending a loan and getting it back. It is a spontaneous offering. Pure
love of this kind can emanate only from a pure heart.

When Bhaktas (devotees) pray to Bhagawan (God) sincerely making all their
actions as offering to God, they will certainly receive appropriate grace from
the Divine. There are nine types of devotion. Shravanam (listening to the glory
of the Lord), Keerthanam (singing), Vishnusmaranam (remembering), Padasevanam
(adoration), Vandanam (saluting), Archanam (worshipping), Dasyam (obedient
service), Sneham (friendship) and Atmanivedanam (self-surrender). In whichever
way you offer worship, God responds in the same way. When you surrender all your
actions, you will surely receive His Grace.

At this time there is coming into incarnation a rather large group of
7Th ray ego's who are now coming into the world and many of them are
unconscious magicians who are along the 7Th ray .Many of them have not
been in incarnation since the latter half of the Atlantean root race
some millions of years ago.
As the 6Th ray goes out of incarnation then we shall see much room for
the 7Th ray ego's to come into incarnation ,and by the year 2025 we
shall see them in their millions as the 6Th ray recedes out of
incarnation.
Not all of these 7Th ray ego's were good magicians ,but many were into
the black arts and those who are very advanced can retain their memory
and knowledge the have learned and have gained from the Atlantean phase
of evolution and some of them are at this time treading the Left Hand
Path and are coming into incarnation for reasons that are of their own
selfish motives.

We all as souls have had many incarnations during the Atlantean root
race ,but the memory of our magical days when magic was apart of public
property has been erased from our memory for our own safety and well
being. Those who tread the Left Hand Path have ways of unlocking the
memory and the knowledge that was gained during that dark period of
human evolution when evil and sex magic of a very vile nature was
running rampid through out the civilization which had led to the final
destruction of that continent many countless thousands of years ago.The
7Th ray is the ray of the balancing of the forces of 'ceremonial
magic'and is the ray in which many sorcerers and those who are the
workers of magic both good and bad get their energy from.

Many of our young people today are taking up an interest in some of the
ancient forms of magic both good and bad and goes to show that a new
form of energy is begining to saturate the earth with its energy.
The seventh ray is as well the energy which stimulates the sexual aspect
of our bodies and thus can be seen the over stimulating of the sexual
nature of humanity. The seventh ray is that which relates spirit and
matter and thus the polar opposites of all in the cosmos.
Those of us who are more advanced and have taken at least the first or
second initiation have the job of reeducating our young people who may
stray into occult danger, for there are so many today who are seeking out
the truth in some very dangerous places such as dabbling in the black
arts and so on.

Why do you repeat the word "Shanti" (peace) thrice? You pray that you may have
peace at all the three levels - physical, mental and spiritual. You are not one,
but three: the one you think you are - physical body, the one others think you
are - mind and the one you really are - Atma. All the three aspects of your
being must be in a state of peace. This can be achieved only through love. The
evil traits of hatred, jealousy and pride should be cast aside. These are not
human qualities, but animal traits. You are a human being. Love is the chief
quality of man, truth is his basis and righteousness is his very life. When you
cultivate these three, you will definitely attain peace.

Divine Grace_An Essential Prerequisite

Grace is a spiritual experience; something spontaneous; which wells out from the
Divine consciousness as a free flow of its being. It is not calculable, has no
constraints whatsoever and works in its own mysterious way. The quantum of grace
is related to the perfection of one’s faith, sincerity and surrender. There is
nothing more precious in this world than Divine Grace.

Baba is an ocean of unlimited powers. The ability and power to write and
describe anything about the Almighty are beyond human capacity. For an ordinary
human being this work is absolutely impossible, tedious and formidable. But when
the Supreme Power Himself encourages, inspires and in His limitless compassion
bestows the knowledge, grace, ability, intelligence, capacity and sakthi, and
makes    the chosen one an instrument of His work, it is only then that human
endeavour succeeds. A work, such as this, for the human affords a providential
opportunity to contemplate on the Divine Leelas and worship Him. It is He
Himself, Who confers a divine favour for the contemplation and adoration of the
Divinity by making one the tool of His Hands. It is then and then alone that an
insurmountable task such as this can be accomplished. The Grace of God is an
important element in fulfillment. Even the Upanishads refer to this grace
“Yamevaisha vranute Tena
Hashyah”, that is, “it is he who is chosen, who gets to know the
Reality.”

The Epics and Puranas relate only an infinitesimal fraction of His Glory, they
set a limit. It is only the one endowed with Jnana-drishti or Yoga-drishti or
Bhakti-drishti, who can have a glimpse of that Effulgence.

One can conclude from this that when the Almighty Himself bestows His Grace with
His Divine Hands, there then remains no dearth of knowledge and wisdom, and it
appears as if a hidden treasure of knowledge and wisdom has become overt. Even a
foolish person becomes a learned scholar, an ignorant all knowledgeable and a
dumb person becomes an impressive orator. As Shri Basavanna has declared, "O
Merciful God! When You pour Your Grace, dry stumps sprout, the barren yield,
poison confers immortality." Sri Aurobindo has said about Divine Grace, "Its
touch can turn difficulties into opportunities, failure into success and
weakness into unfaltering strength.... Grace is a power superior to any rule,
even to the Cosmic Law.'

By the Grace of that Supreme Power some awe-inspiring glimpses and divine
mysterious phenomena are being narrated. I dedicate these flowers of heartfelt
true love and devotion at the Lotus Feet of the Almighty Sadguru Bhagavan Sri
Sathya Sai Baba. With sincerest humility I offer this little achievement that
has sprung from the gift of Divine Grace bestowed upon me to the Source
itself, and in adoration give the Giver the gift.

“Gurudev Sharnaram Gacchami."

Why does man wail when he arrives into the world, whimper throughout his life
and groan out, into the beyond, lamenting that his sojourn here was a waste of
years? Man does so, because he is unaware of his glory, of his high destiny! He
is the Divine poured into the human mould. It is the privilege of man alone, to
be able to become aware of this precious truth! This is the message of the
Upanishads to man, echoed in scriptures, and in the declarations of countless
saints. Yet, man turns a deaf ear to it, perhaps, due to his own misfortune
created by his own misdeeds in past lives. What an inexhaustible source of bliss
lies within you! You only have to develop the mind that will respond to the
call, that will recognise the Truth.

You have to make your love pure. To do so, you must develop Kshama
(forbearance), which implies remaining serene, patient and observing
self-restraint under all circumstances, doing good to all, even to those who may
want to harm you. There is nothing greater than Kshama. Kshama is equivalent to
truth itself. It is the heart of Dharma (righteousness). It is non-violence in
practice. Kshama is contentment, compassion; truly, it is everything in all the
worlds. Only when you have developed Kshama will you be able to attain the Lord.

Without God, there is no universe. To ask for physical proof of the existence of
bliss or love or the fragrance of a flower is impracticable. To deny the reality
of love on the ground that it has no recognizable form is meaningless. Love may
have no form, but the mother who exhibits love has a form. All beings are
manifestations of the Cosmic Divine. The forms are different, but the spirit
that animates them all is One, like the current that illumines bulbs of
different colours and wattage. Cultivate this feeling of oneness and do not be
critical of any faith or religion. Dedicate your lives to the service of your
fellow beings. Thereby, you will be redeeming your lives.
