Couple discover huge World War II air raid shelter in their garden.
After tending to the flower bed in their back garden for many years, little did Les and Sheila Holmes know of what really lay beneath. But following excavation work, the couple were stunned to find a long-lost Second World War air raid shelter hidden under their flowers. Relatives of the couple excavated 70 tonnes of earth to reveal the 6ft deep bunker.
The 13ft x 5ft hole has now swallowed up most of their tiny back garden in Street, Somerset. Mr Holmes, 73, and his 72-year-old wife now believe the tin-roofed bomb shelter was built after a local milk factory was bombed by the Nazis.
The family - led by William Foxwell - moved into the stone cottage in 1962. Their niece Estelle Sparks and her partner Darren Mapstone, both 40, carried out the back-breaking excavation work.

Battle of the oranges
The traditional "battle of the oranges" is held every year in the northern Italian city of Ivrea. During the 19th-century French occupation of Italy the Carnival of Ivrea was modified to add representatives of the French army. The festival lasts for three days, after which just about everyone and everything is covered in pulp and orange juice.
The event marks the rebellion of the people against tyrannical lords who ruled the town in the Middle Ages, with the revellers on carts representing guards of the tyrant, those on foot the townsfolk. The city brings in some 57,000 crates, or 400 tonnes worth of oranges from southern Italy for use in the famous battle each year.

The 25 villas of the resort are integrated within this scenic landscape, allowing each of the guests here to enjoy exquisite views from the comfort of their cottage-like dwelling. Jellyfish Lake
At Jellyfish Lake in the Pacific island of Palau, it's safe to swim among millions of jellyfish, because the sometimes-deadly creatures have lost their sting.
Jellyfish Lake, based on the Pacific island of Palau, was once connected to the Pacific Ocean. But when the sea level dropped, jellyfish became isolated in the algae rich lake and eventually lost their sting.
With the Jellyfish isolated in the lake, their stings weakened and these amazing images show tourists can now swim alongside the jellyfish without fear of being stung.
A swimmer takes a dip in the lake, which now contains an estimated 8 million jellyfish.
A brave swimmer submerged in the lake on the Pacific island of Palau is surrounded by hundreds of jellyfish.
Swimmers feel hundreds of "soft blobs" gentle touching their skin as they paddle in Palau Lake.
Photographer Kevin Davidson has been visiting the lake for 15 years to capture photos of tourists swimming with jellyfish.

How Somali Pirates Get Ransom for Hijacked Ships
Somali pirates are modern day armed groups, hijacking ships near a Somalia coastline. They use small, fast speedboats and are armed with automatic weapons and RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades). These sea bandits are often well organized and a combination of ex-fisherman, ex-militia, and computer geeks, but they rarely have quality training. In response to their attacks and to ensure the safety of ships, a fleet of international warships are now on daily patrol in the Gulf of Aden.

Flipping a baby over head inbizarre 'baby yoga' routine.
Frightening images of babies as young as two weeks old being flung around a wacky therapists head have shocked millions around the world. And now the Russian filmed spinning and somersaulting the babies by their wrists and ankles has confirmed she hopes to bring the craze to the UK.
Lena Fokina can be seen flipping a baby over her head in her bizarre 'baby yoga' routine which has been banned from a number of websites for fear that it glorifies child abuse.
Lena, a mother-of-five and grandmother, does sessions that can last up to five minutes, during which babies are spun, swung and flipped, often by a single limb. The actions are performed on babies from a few weeks old up to around age two.

Fire Waterfall at Yosemite!
This park was gazetted as a national park in 1890. It is world famous for its rugged terrain, waterfall and century-old pine trees. It covers 1200 sq km and the "fire" waterfall of El Capitan is one of the most spectacular of all scenery.
The spectacular view of the waterfall is created bythe reflection of sunlight hitting the falling water at a specific angle. This are sight can only be seen at a 2-week period towards the end of February. To photograph this rare event, photographers would often have to wait and endure years of patience in order to capture them. The reason is because its appearance depend on a few natural phenomenons occurring at the same time and luck.
1st, Is the formation of the waterfall - The water is formed by the melting of snow and ice at the top of the mountain. It melts between the month of December and January and by the end of February there might not have much snow left to melt.
2nd, is the specific angle of the sun ray hitting the falling water - The sun's position must be exactly at a particular spot in the sky. This occur only in the month of February and at the short hours of dusk. If it is a day full of clouds or something blocking the sun, you can only take pictures of your own sorry faces on the waterfall. It coincides with the fact that the weather in the National Park at that time of the year is often volatile and unpredictable. It compounds to the difficulty of getting these pictures.

Artist Ben Wilson as he paints on a piece of discarded chewing gum on the Millennium Bridge, in London. Wilson has painted miniature works of art on discarded chewing gum in various parts of London and Europe over the past seven years in an effort to "turn something some people would find disgusting into something artistic and beautiful," he said. He chooses gum splatters with unusual shapes "to allow art to happen in a random way."

Woman and Horse Trapped in Mud
This was the terrifying moment a brave young mother battled to keep her beloved horse calm as sea water closed in on the animal after he became trapped in mud 'like quicksand'.
The 78-stone show horse had sunk into quagmire-like mud and was facing the prospect of drowning as the water rose around them. Miss Graham, who owns more than 10 horses and runs an equine dentistry business, told the Geelong Advertiser how a peaceful afternoon's ride had turned to terror.
She said: ‘It was terrifying. It was also heartbreaking to see my horse exhausted and struggling. Fire crews worked with a local farmer, who provided a tractor, and a veterinary team. The firemen used hoses and a winch, but none of this equipment was successful.
The combined rescue effort paid off. With minutes to spare before the water reached him, Astro - who had been sedated by vet Stacey Sullivan - was dragged from the mud with the aid of the farmer’s tractor.

Car engine that runs on air
Tata Motors of India has scheduled the Air Car to hit Indian streets by August 2012. The Air Car, developed by ex-Formula One engineer Guy N. For Luxembourg-based MDI, uses compressed air to push its engine's pistons and make the car go.
The Air Car, called the "Mini CAT" could cost around 365,757 rupees in India or $8,177 US. The Mini CAT which is a simple, light urban car, with a tubular chassis, a body of fiberglass that is glued not welded and powered by compressed air. A Microprocessor is used to control all electrical functions of the car. One tiny radio transmitter sends instructions to the lights, turn signals and every other electrical device on the car. Which are not many.
The temperature of the clean air expelled by the exhaust pipe is between 0-15 degrees below zero, which makes it suitable for use by the internal air conditioning system with no need for gases or loss of power. There are no keys, just an access card which can be read by the car from your pocket. According to the designers, it costs less than 50 rupees per 100 KM, that's about a tenth the cost of a car running on gas. It's mileage is about double that of the most advanced electric car, a factor which makes it a perfect choice for city motorists.
The car has a top speed of 105 KM per hour or 60 mph and would have a range of around 300 km or 185 miles between refuels. Refilling the car will take place at adapted gas stations with special air compressors. A fill up will only take two to three minutes and costs approximately 100 rupees and the car will be ready to go another 300 kilometers.
This car can also be filled at home with it's on board compressor. It will take 3-4 hours to refill the tank, but it can be done while you sleep. Because there is no combustion engine, changing the 1 liter of vegetable oil is only necessary every 50,000 KM or 30,000 miles. Due to its simplicity, there is very little maintenance to be done on this car.

Tornado hits US town
Tornadoes killed at least six people in an Illinois town and three more in Missouri as powerful storms ripped through the Midwest, obliterating homes, churches and businesses across six states, authorities said on Wednesday.
A storm temporarily closed the famous entertainment strip in the music city of Branson, Missouri, where country music and other performers draw thousands of people a day to shows. The hardest hit community appeared to be Harrisburg, Illinois, where television images from the town of 10,000 showed collapsed buildings and overturned trucks, with mattresses and other debris caught in tree branches. The governors of Illinois, Missouri and Kansas declared emergencies.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon said there was "widespread damage in several communities," including in the tourist mecca Branson.

Elephant gives birth after 2 years of pregnancy!
Elephants are notorious for their long memories, but now they will be renowned for their lengthy pregnancies. Long-suffering Asian elephant Azizah was carrying her baby for 700 days - 84 longer than the average - and finally gave birth at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire.
It is believed to be the longest pregnancy ever recorded at the British zoo - nearly two extra months over the normal gestation period of 22 months. And the baby, at just 16 stone (104kg) at birth, is the smallest in Whipshade's history. Keepers were so concerned about the diminutive size of the newborn - yet to be named - they thought he wouldn't be able to reach his mother's milk.
You took your time! It took Azizah 700 to give birth to her third baby. 'Elephants are social animals and having youngsters joining the herd is what elephant life is about.' The calf is now venturing out of the elephant barn with the rest of the heard. And visitors are flocking to the zoo so as to catch a glimpse of him playing with his siblings and suckling his mother, who will not forget the lengthy pregnancy in a hurry.

Top 10 Legal Addictions
In the Eighties, Nancy Reagan led a militant campaign to do away with drugs, from the backs of schoolyards to the cartels of Columbia. However, when her husband ultimately succumbed to Alzheimer’s, you didn’t see her telling him to “just say NO” to his medication. There’s a clear double-standard on how drugs are handled in this country, but there seems to be one unifying principle: if they government can somehow make a profit, it’s a-okay as far as the law goes.
Nonetheless, substance abuse and addiction rages at full force on both sides of the law, and feigning an injury is a much less risky way to acquire an opiate than to cross the border and smuggle a plastic-wrapped portion of suspicious black goop. Addiction is good business for all involved.
