If you live in a hurricane-prone, flood-prone, or earthquake-prone area, here, according to the experts, is what you should have stashed away in a safe place:
- Cash: a few thousand at least
- Food and water for at least three days
- First-aid kit: a good one
- Important medical documents
- A list of your financial assets
- A map of your local area
- A list of emergency phone numbers and/or e-mail addresses
- A portable computer
- A cellular phone.
