I have just read Ralph D'Souza's narrative.
Of course all of it is 'tongue in cheek'.It is about time that people made serious appraisals of the situation worldwide. It is nonsensical to keep on harping about emotional issues from the past with regard to India/Goa.It is time to move on and look at the global picture. Indians(and that means Goans too) are now a global commodity and have moved to distant lands and contribute significantly to the economies of those lands...USA,Australia,UK etc etc. A better exercise for those emotionally strapped Goans would be to try and find our predecessors Hindi surnames.....yes,"family tree". Some of you will not want to go back that far in history(400 years)and would not like to hear the truth.I have found mine. Come on, move on in this Global community. Why is it that the emotional issues tends to be most felt mostly in the Goans that have emigrated to foreign lands and have made good ?Very few dissenting voices from Goa itself...they know better and they live there. I keep in touch with the homeland by visiting as often as I can and I am of that age where one can be emotional about these matters but it is shortsighted to do so.
Move on chaps...man has got to the moon you know...over 20 years ago.

Freddy J Da Costa Memorial Trust establishedKeeping with the Goa Clergy, me hopes the Memorial will be in Devnagiri script & the essay competition too. During the Portuguese time, Hindus & Christians lived in harmony & peace. It is just a " coincidence " that now there appears to be tensions. Not to worry though, the world's greatest democratic, God-fearing leader was in India & now India can join the nuclear club; what a privelege. Soon there will be a large scale war between India & Pakistan. Iraq & Afghanistan is stale stuff, the arms & ammunition industry needs new places to test the new equipment & nations to sell off the old war toys to.Rush out & purchase stocks & shares of the arms & ammunitions industry & also the pharmaceutical industry that will come to the aid of the injured, dying & dead & sick. Be a compassionate, caring human & support these two industries.Mapusakar in canada.
