LUSAVOX - Searching for new musical talents from Luso-descendents throughout
the world.

A joint initiative by the Portuguese Foreign Affairs Ministry, PT.Com,
Valentim de Carvalho and RTP is promoting a song contest to find new musical
talents amongst the Luso-descendents residing outside Portugal.

The winner will be offered an opportunity to record a single, edited and
sponsored by Valentim de Carvalho. The runner-up will receive a cash prize.

The competition started in March 2007 and artists throughout the world were
invited to apply online through the web site www.lusavox.com. Famous
Luso-descendent singer Nelly Furtado also promoted the contest and made a
presentation online.

A total of 200 artists applied and 10 were selected for the final by a panel
of judges and by the users of the site lusavox.

The final stage of the competition will be on Sunday, the 12 August at 21.30
hours (GMT+1) at Teatro Circo de Braga, north of Portugal. The show will be
broadcasted live throughout the world through the main Portuguese TV channel
RTP1 and through the International Portuguese TV Channel RTPi.

In Goa, the programme can be watched live at 2.00 am of Monday, the 13th
August through RTPi TV channel (available for cable subscribers).

The lyrics and music of the 10 finalist songs as well as the biographies of
the artists and the comments from the users are available online through the
site: www.lusavox.com.

Nerissa Santimano, one of the 10 finalists, is a Goan resident and her song
- "Sem asas - Without wings" is sung in three different languages:
Portuguese, Konkani and English. 40,536 worldwide users of the site voted
for this song and, so far, the song has been listened 47,532 timesn through
the lusavox web site.
