Narana Sinai Coissoro, elected to the Portuguese Parliament on the Christian Democrat list, has - as expected - been elected as one of the four Deputy Speakers of the Portuguese Parliament which commenced its operations last week as the result of the elections held on March 17th.
The only other ethnic Goan in the Portuguese political world, Antonio Costa
(writer Orlando da Costa's son), who had been Law Minister in the previous
Government, is now leader of the Socialist Parliamentary Wing.

Narana Sinai Coissoró, eleito para a Assembleia da República (Parlamento) de Portugal nas listas do CDS-PP (Centro Democrático Social - Partido Popular), de matriz cristã-democrata, foi - como era esperado - eleito um dos quatro vice-presidentes da Assembleia que entrou em funções na semana passada, em resultado das eleições realizadas no dia 17 de Março findo.
O único outro indivíduo de origem goesa no mundo político português, António Costa (filho do escritor Orlando da Costa), que fora Ministro da Justiça no anterior Governo, tornou-se agora Chefe da Bancada Parlamentar do Partido Socialista.
