The Hum Janenge ('We Shall Know') yahoo group seeks to provide a common platform for citizen activists in India and abroad to share their experiences of the national Right to Information (RTI) Act passed by the Indian Parliament in 2005.

Founded in 2004, over the past six years, the board has played a crucial role in facilitating discussion among groups from various parts of India regarding the implementation of the RTI Act, 2005. HJ is one of the most active e-groups in the world on RTI/Freedom of Information (FOI) today, providing crucial information updates, and goodwill and solidarity between members.

Hum Janenge was the brainchild of the late Prakash Kardaley (who passed away on July 15, 2007 at age 65), former Editor of the Indian Express Pune and a relentless crusader of the right to information in India. After his untimely passing, the HJ group was helmed by another passionate journalist-activist, Rahul Mangaonkar, who dedicated time and effort to keep HJ afloat and provide guidance to its members. Unfortunately, Rahul too was lost to the HJ group as a result of his premature demise on May 5, 2009 (he was 36 years old).

The group carries on in its efforts to bring to fruition the dreams of these men and countless other brave men and women that are at the forefront of the RTI movement in India.
