Hello Dr. Kumar,
To clarify the capabilities of Visual MODFLOW, the latest version (Version
4.0.0, released in April of 2004) is capable of importing any MODFLOW-based
model. The import capabilities have been significantly enhanced since the
release of Version 2.8.2 in 1999. The Version 4.0 User's Manual contains a
detailed description of how to convert an older MODFLOW-88 or MODFLOW-96 model
to MODFLOW-2000 format (using the USGS MF96TO2K program), then import the
MODFLOW-2000 model directly into Visual MODFLOW.
The following excerpt is taken from the "What's new in Visual MODFLOW 4.0"
section of our website
(http://www.waterloohydrogeologic.com/software/visual_modflow_pro/visual_modflow\
_pro_whats_new.htm)
"Although previous versions of Visual MODFLOW were able to import existing
MODFLOW data sets, the import process often ignored important data such as
Specific Storage and Specific Yield values, and it was not able to accommodate
quasi 3D models containing implicitly represented aquitards. Visual MODFLOW 4.0
has a significantly improved importing process that supports both MODFLOW-2000
Groundwater Process data sets, and older data sets from MODFLOW-96 and
MODFLOW-88. This process utilizes a modified version of the USGS utility
(MF962MF2K.EXE) to convert MODFLOW-96 and MODFLOW-88 data sets to MODFLOW-2000
data sets, and then imports the MODFLOW-2000 data set into the Visual MODFLOW
graphical environment."
If you have any further questions about the import capabilities of Visual
MODFLOW Version 4.0, please feel free to contact Waterloo Hydrogeologic's
Technical Support department at techsupport@....
Thank you.

Subject: RE: [hydrologymodel] PMWIN and GMS
R. Jeffrey Davis:
I have tried to open *.bas file. GMS is working well.
There is problem in opening *.nam file. I have noticed
that *.nam file created in PMWIN giving no error.
There is problem with opening *.bas file crated in
Visual Modflow. Evapotranspiration, recharge data is
not coming out. Well locations are coming but its
discharge value is not coming. I have also noticed
that Visual Modflow is not creating *.nam file where
as PMWIN is not creating *.bas file.
I may say that GMS has great facility for converting
MODFLOW files created in other software. It
compatibility with PMWIN is better than Visual
MODFLOW.
