RE: [hydrologymodel] MODFLOW Background Image

Dear All Dr. Ashok, Mr.Jeff and Mr. Martin;
I would like to thank you all for your quick reply and the answers are
really appreciated, many thanks.

I would like to inform you that I could success to import a low resolution
bmp file into Visual ModFlow.

BUT regarding the GMS, I could not open the vmf file into the GMS, and also
I could not import the Hds file into GMS as well.
If there is any sugesstion to read the head file produced from the Visual
ModFlow into GMS, it would be highly appreciated,

Many thanks and Best regards
Ashraf

Dear Ashraf Mushtaha,
You are write in pointing out that in Visual Modflow
only DXF and BMP files can be imported as base map.
Even in latest version Visual Modflow Pro 4.0 other
than DXF and BMP import is not possible. I would
suggest you that try to reduce the depth of BMP or
save the orginal base in monorchrome or less colur
depth (grey scale). This will reduce your size of file
considerably. This will also help you fast operation
of the programme.
You may import Visual Modflow generated heads to GMS.
You import the super model file from open menu in GMS
4.0
bye
ashok

Ashraf

My suggestion would be to read the model directly
into GMS. GMS supports multiple formats for image
display (including the format that you have) and
you can perform the animations like you need to.

Warm regards

Jeff

Hello Ashraf,

Unfortunately, Version 3.1 was limited to DXF and BMP file formats.
However, Version 4.0 released early in 2004 includes the following import
possibilities. Plus, Version 4 also includes a handy layer management
feature so you can adjust layer sequencing easily.

- DXF
- BMP
- SHP
- GIF
- JPG
- PNG

In terms of animating your heads, you can also do this using the built-in
VMOD 3D-Explorer (part of Visual MODFLOW Pro).
For an example, click on
http://www.waterloohydrogeologic.com/software/modflow_surfact/modflow_surfact_ov\
.htm

(go to bottom of page). You will see the head changing with respect to
time. This animation was recorded directly from the VMOD 3D-Explorer.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Martin Draeger

Dear Sir's;
I am working with the Visula ModFlow version 3.1.0.86 and I have 2 question

unfortunetly VMOD only take a bmp files, Is there any other way to import

My second question is related to link the head file produce from visula
modflow into the GMS and that to creat a movie file for the heads in
transient flow model.???

Any reply is highly appreciaed
