Hi:
"Ungauged watershed modeling" is a very interesting topic and occurs much
more often than people realize. When you model alternative/future
conditions that are significantly different than the conditions that the
model was calibrated/validated for, you are performing ungauged watershed
modeling.
In the statistical world, this considered using a model outside of the range
of the input data set. Process-based models have a better chance of being
able to do this, but the user should first verify the model's ability to do
this.
When we were doing some watershed modeling for the St Johns Watershed
Management District in Florida, they had us model a basin with calibration
data and several basins without giving us any calibration data. Then they
had us check the model accuracy on the 3 basins using the
calibration/validation data for each. We felt good when we say that the 2
ungauged basins performed almost as well as the gauged basin.
Regards,
Barry

Subject: Re: [hydrologymodel] Searching for "Ungaged watershed model"
information
Hii,
I am also doing research on stream flow prediction in
Ungauged basins. According to my knowledge there is no
any model developed specially for that purpose.
Researchers are using various methods to do it.
Are u really using a model called "Ungaged watershed
model"????
Sorry, I don't have any information about such model
but if you can give me some information of that model
I can try.
Wish you for your research.
