announcement of our e-Learning diploma program in Integrated Water
Resources Management (IWRM). Few fellowships are now available with

Fellowships Available for E-Learning Diploma Program on IWRM
************************************************************
The Regional UN-Water Virtual Learning Centre (WVLC) at Asian
Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, established in collaboration
with UNU-INWEH, Canada and with support from UN-DESA, is now inviting
applications from prospective water professionals for the 3rd batch
starting in March 2008.

The IWRM curriculum is Internet-based as well as CD-ROM supported. A
complete training program consists of 10 courses given over a period
of about 18 months. Each course is equivalent to 25h of lectures and
will be given over a period of about 8 weeks. This diploma program
consists of 10 courses with Course 1 (Introduction to IWRM) and
Course 10 (Applying Integrated Water Resources Management) are given
face-to-face at AIT and the remaining courses (Course 2 to Course 9)
are given online or are CD-ROM supported. Upon successful completion,
students are awarded Diploma by the United Nations University.

The program curriculum covers hydrology, water quality, terrestrial
ecosystem, land use changes, aquatic ecosystem, water uses and
wastewater, governance and community-based approaches and
organizational infrastructure and management aspects.

The tuition fee for the whole diploma program is US$5,000 per
participant. Additionally, the cost associated with international
travel, accommodation, living and other expenses for attending the
Course 1 and Course 10 at AIT is estimated at US$2,000 per
participant for these two courses. This however will vary depending
on the country of origin of the candidate.

Few fellowships are available with AIT to provide partial support
towards tuition fee for selected participants. Financial support will
cover a maximum of 50% of tuition fee (2500 USD) for the later half
of the program and is available for limited number of candidates.
Applicants from a developing country and working in water sector are
eligible to apply for the fellowship.
