Dear Manish,
IMO, I don't think ad com will penalise for low score. As stated by
IIMA, only highest GMAT score will be taken in to consideration.
Having said that, you should be ready with the reason for low score in
second test, if you get selected for the interview. Since your score
in 2nd attempt is considerably low,AD com may want to know the reason.
Also from my experience, the greatest factor in achieving a good score
in GMAT, is how well you perform on that particular day. I gave GMAT
thrice in last 4 months. Check out my scores
May -08 - 640 ( V-30,Q-48,AWA- 5.0) Not prepared well for verbal.
June -08 - 690 ( V-38,Q-45,AWA- 5.0) Bad time management in quanta
July-08 - 700 ( V-34,Q-50,AWA- 5.5) Prepared well, but bad time
management in verbal.
See how my verbal and quanta scores fluctuated, only because poor test
management. I was scoring 720-740 in practice tests, prior to my
third
attempt. I would have been happier, if scored atleast 720 in third
attempt.
Hope that my rest of the profile helps me in getting interview call
despite below average GMAT.
Profile - 13 years exp/manufacturing ( non it)/good EC,average
acads, top engineering college/6 years in leadership role.
Also since IIMA is probably increasing no. of seats, they may look at
lower GMAT scores as well. Any say on this ?
I submitted my application today. Keeping my fingers crossed for
interview call.
I also request all the members to update their profile in Datebase
section of this group.
Cheers
Kiran
