Overall i have understood that after PGPX one should try to stick to his industry and figure out a non CEO kind of role to aim at. This ensure that you will get hired quickly during placements and with some % increase in salary. If changing carrer e.g. IT to investment banker is a desire then 2 yr MBA is suited and starting salary may not be higher than what u were making before. overall its good to do PGPX but keep ur expectations really really grounded.
all the best for iw folks.

Thanks for the reply. I know it is a dangerous question :-) I have asked it even before I applied for PGPX. As you say, it is not a question anyone seems to be interested in answering accurately.
I am not letting it affect my interview prep. But, we are all curious, right? :-)
On a serious note, when people with 8-10 yrs of exp are taking time off for PGPX, I think they should be given this info. After all, the roles we can expect post PGPX can be as great an incentive as the salary increases.

You should not worry about placements and roles till ur interview.
From interview perspective, you should not expect big industry change after this programme. For e.g.: after spending 8 yrs in IT in specific function you wont be given P&L to manage after the PGPX. I am a reject this year (suspect my score has not reached IIMA), however I do have IIMA interview experience.
I can definitely tell you one thing - the panel is as cordeal as it gets but do not be misled by appearances. At all times they are on a lookout for:
[1] what's special in you to differentiate from other applicants and from peers with your background;
[2] You have to be a MASTER in whatever you have submitted in your profile / application, or in whatever you say in there.
And these are not just my impressions - I had stayed back for evening dinner where Interview Panel mingled with us.
Over to you sharp guys then...anurag

I have a doubt regarding submission of essays for PGPX
If I am right, the procedure is as below 1) Confirm your interview venue and date 2) Write/paste 5 essays under each heading 3) Upload your photograph.
Once the above things are done. What is the next STEP ?. I am unable to see 'SUBMIT' button. Is it enough if we just load all the details and leave it like

Here's something interesting I just found out.
I took my GMAT on 21-July, expecting that the scores would reach IIM-A by mid August or late August.
I was not shortlisted despite 710 / 10 yrs / 4 yrs managerial.
ISB yesterday confirmed that they have not received my GMAT score report - I suspect that even IIMA would not have received. In which case I never stood a chance.
Hmmm - gives me some hope for other colleges :)

Friends Although I am not in the race , i am very much involved in the whole process The process (of applying to B schools) gives lot of value addition along with learning scope to explore yourself at individual level
from Adcom (PGPX/PGPEX) viewpoint ,I must say , telecom is the hottest areas in last 2-3 areas, Finance now little down thanks to sub prime and US slowdown of Investment Banking/Credit Risk side Biz ,Infrastructure-even telecom, steel are part of physical Infra sector(be it power, renewable, railways etc) is equally Hot and will be the BEST sector in coming years,IMO. IT is super hot and neglected as well due to obvious reasons-many guys compete for few posts.
Jatin is from the Hottest telecom sector(if I can rightly guess) all the best to all of you!!

Yes Congrats Rama:) Anurag, with such strong profile ,ISB is calling you i recall one profile(equally strong from Shipping side) got rejected from IIM-L and now is part of ISB:) so keep working
Hardluck Anurag. I can understand the pains in not getting shortlisted after having 10 yrs exp with 710 GMAT. Hope that some thing better is going to happen with you soon.
I wish you good luck in your other attempts.

Hey Guys All the best to people who have been shortlisted, interview should be a lively experience; and to those who shall try again next year.
I have not been shortlisted: 710, 10 yrs IT experience, below avg academics.
Will try my profile (plus luck) at other 1 year full time offerings.
Enjoy...anurag
