Yes, of course. Recursion in SF simply means SF that that in some way refers to other SF, SF authors, fans, conventions, and the like. A good example of this is the American SF movie Time After Time, in which H.G. Wells and Jack the Ripper are characters. Jack the Ripper, who is a respected surgeon, is a member of Wells's circle of intellectual friends, where he comes to learn of Wells's invention of a time machine. When he is about to be exposed by the police, Jack attempts to steal the time machine, and in the struggle to stop him, both Wells and the Ripper are transported to 1976 USA. Jack falls out of the time bubble just as the time machine materializes in a San Francisco museum that is having an H.G. Wells special exhibition on loan from the British Museum. Jack begins a killing spree among San Francisco prostitutes, and H.G. Wells sets out to track him down. At the same time, he must avoid the police, who think he is the Ripper because he knows so much about the Ripper's methods.

Wells, of course, was a Victorian era gentleman, and was quite the anachronism in 1976 San Francisco, with his sense of manners contrasted with with the libertine mores of the Americans around him.
