Dear Friends,
With  the demise of Maharshi Mahesh Yogi the planet earth has lost a veteran philosopher and champion  scholar of  Indian  spiritualism and Vedas  ,his brain child -TM- transcendental meditation once attracted even the famous THE BEATLES  GROUPS .They visited their Guru's office in India in 1968 and both Guru and Chela [disciple ] flourished in a symbiotic relationship.
The practice of TM -exploring consciousness through meditation and chanting was so mesmerizing that even a skeptic  like me  got entangled with it  in  the very beginning of 1980's   when  his two  American Chelas  visited  my hostel in Allahabad University .
I found the process interesting but soon got disillusioned as  I noticed  it to be  some sort  of   pseudo scientific affair[i might have been wrong !].But I  noticed  people enjoying the process and some even got sound sleeps  during the so called  meditative state.
I still do not know the present  scientific status of the process like that - because the scientific understanding of consciousness is a new  domain which has only just hatched up and there are lot of discussions going amongst the concerned intelligentsia .
Now Mahrshi[or Maharishi ]is no more ,my memories are still green with TM -I am getting a bit of nostalgic  and  also apologetic that I  could  not pay  this great man the respect in his life time which he really deserved -bad with my skeptically oriented  mind.
He was definitely a great sage and a teacher !A living legend of his times !
