RE: [indiansciencefiction] Its too much hot ...

Attached here a recent story published in New York Times. Is it not a proof of what you have very well said in your sattire "BODHI BRAKSH KE NEECHE"

FRiends,
I had posted my science-poem 'Big Bang' in Eng, as at that time I couldnt locate the Hindi version.
Whilst I was loocating the Hindi version, I found another poem, I should call it 'Technology- Philosophy - Poem',
'Bodhi Wraksha kay Neechay'. Both are attached.
Best wishes

Quite right VMT ,we should not ape the west ,rather adopt our own ancient wisdom of living a life with renunciation and non-attachment.

Friends,

What Anat jee and Chnadra Mohan jee have said is true, we have to keep that in our mind in this discussion.
There is no real good technological solution available, certainly for developing countries.

At present our problems are the result of lack of proper planning, a dis- integrated view of development and
lack of character; see the West is not suffering from such problems significantly.
But their future is not secure due to global warming and pollution and gradual loss of resources.

Indeed if the world carries on consuming resources at the rate it is carrying on now,
the future, not far away, but near future is bleak.

Consumption has to increase by at least 10 % every year if we are to make PROGRESS, as per West's definition.

On the other hand population of the world is also increasing, so consumption is increasing at a higher pace.

The more you consume, the happier you are supposed to be !!
Everybody wants to be more happy. Human race is going to die soon, I hope happily !!!

The wise have realized that the earth cannot support for long the living standard of USA alone, forget the rest.
And rest of the world is aiming towards the living standard of USA, which is still gallopping faster.
Gandhi had said long ago, "There is enough for everybody's NEEDS but not sufficient for one man's GREED.
But Gandhi is out of date, certainly so in India.

Let us think who is driving us; 'The concept that happiness is proportional to consumption' .
The technology has strenthened this concept, if not created it !!

Our rishies had realized long long ago that happiness is not proportional to consumption.
They recommended control of mind and consumption. "Simple living and high thinking", was the life's motto.
Where has it gone now??

Even the best technology, yet to be invented, cannot solve the 'Too hot' problem unless
the consumption and population is controlled, voluntarily.
This is in brief, many arguments have been left out for the sake of brevity.

Even if we go for solar, soon we shall hear complaints of there being no sun shine as all over one sees panels! Fusion, still a distant dream, may be the saviour. Some relief may come from wind, tidal, geothermal but only limited. Probably some revolutionary discovery/ invention is due.

Friends,
Mercury touched 45 degrees today in Varanasi and is still rising !
Its really a hell out here and the frequent power cuts have made the
things worst.
Electricity is available only 14-16 hours on an average and the net is
the most affected activity now .
While one is in midst of writings the power goes out leaving him in a
a state of predicament- while a I am writing this I apprehend it may
not get completed in one sitting. So I have planned it to be a short
filler item.More ever brevity is the soul of wit a we already know it ...
The status of the availability of energy being this one gets
sometimes disheartened /pessimistic to maintain smooth activities on
the net.
India has still not gone nuclear insofar as the energy scenario is
concerned.
And our coal stock is dwindling very fast which has been a major
source of electricity so far.And waterborne electricity has its own
problems-problems of distribution , pilferage/theft by all the
innovative/improvis ed illegal methods.
Is there any solution [in time ]or we are to be doomed ?
Any suggestions ?
best,
arvind
