How 'd we know they understand this language (English, or Hindi or..)? The first thing may have to be to convey that we are friends. We have to keep margin for the fact that even their anotomy may be different, we can't put our hand at our heart to conevey that we like them by heart. May be it will be an inappropriate place for them. May be one has to take a cue from music. We may sent some signal in form of electromagnetic form which is rythemic conveying soft feelings. But which wavelength will be non- offensive? We can't think in terms of soothing and pleasing colours because their eye- sensitivity may be different. For instance, our eyes are more sensitive to yellow colour. If the alliens' eyes are very sensitive to green (say 5X times times than yellow) then the response to the
greencolour will be very hight and a colour which is pleasing to us may be offensive to them! Even the smile i.e. streching of muscles will be read differently by different people.
In short what may convey good feelings is to be decided considering physiological, cultural and other difference and so may vary from one to the other race, quite like on Earth itself.
