rasfw thread to list currently active science fiction authors from
countries that don't speak English; with or without translations
available in English.

Anyone wants to chip in? Newsgroup rasfw is probably the world's most
knowledgeable forum in written sf in English. A lot of publishers,
publicists, anthologists, & authors here - apart from fans.

Might be good publicity outside of India for specific authors. If you
cannot directly post there, hand me the message & I will post.

Caution: DO NOT use your normal email address there; preferably use a
fake address. No one there cares about the email address, & it's
frequently used by spammers. Of course, you can use any news client;
Google's in the link above is not particularly good (though it is
functional).

I saw District 9  yesternight and its review in Hindi appears here  ! Its a wonderful film and highly recommended for sf movie buffs who remain always restless to see something unique to quench their  literary  thirst  ! Its a powerful satire and voicing contemporary issues on apartheid,cast-ism  and human slums -  especially refers to contemporary evictions and forced removals to new suburban ghettos in post-apartheid South Africa and the resistance of residents.
Film powerfully establishes the point that even sf could be employed to raise many social issues of the contemporary world notwithstanding its alien settings and focus .
A must see item !

Please accept my heartiest congratulations for bringing up an excellent publication in the form of Kalkion, which will go a long way in filling the vacuum caused due to non-availability of any good online Hindi Sc-fi Magazine/Journal. I am sure this has been possible due able support of Dr. Arvind Dube, S/Shri Rajesh Jain, Amit Kumar, Zeeshan Zaini, Irfan Human, Shastri J.c. Phillip, B. Subramaniam Laxminarain and others.
We hope to continue benefiting for a long time from such publications.

Popsamiti is a project curated by Tajender Sagoo. It is a platform for artists and writers to explore themes in art and culture with the aim to forge new narratives for the 21st century.

    As part of this project a call was given in this group by tajender sagoo from London inviting contributions including science ficitons in south Indian languages. As I write in Tamil and English this was personally brought to my notice by Dr.Arvind Mishraji during a chat.I submitted two contributions. After several months of prepration a POPSAMITI paper has been launched in London in August.During the preparation several interaction with tajender sagoo was done including sending the Tamil font file and proofing the fiction.Due to space constraint one of my science fictions out of two sent has since been published.

  My science ficition titled "IYANTHIRA MALAR" meaning Machine flower has been published in the 14 th page of the paper.

   The gist of the story is the protagonist Bhrathwajan's sky-taxi  mal-functions while in space when a woman rescues him by docking her sky-taxi with his and landing it to safety.The woman Selenna and Bharathwajan fall in love. Selena is from space colony. Bhrathwajan wants to marry Selenna after matching the RH facor. Selena takes leave of him after he proposes to him never to return. He goes in search of Selena to space colony. What he came to know was shocking : Selena was programmed woman destined to destruct at a particular time. She vainly tried to extend her life time but gets destructed and no she is no more. Yes she is an android or a machine woman(that's why the ficiton is titled Machine flower). Even though she was a machine her memories will take a long time to fade from his heart.

 A hindi contribution from Dr.Arvind Dubey also finds a place in the paper.

Also, you will normally get more people to read your story if you
directly give link to it rather than giving home page & making them
search. I have a few subscribers from TN & Indo China, & might publish
the Tamil link if you give the story link that works (I myself don't
know Tamil beyond a few words I picked up during a few visits to Madras).

Hearty Congrats K Mohan JI ,its great news for the group ! See how our little and humble efforts are bearing the fruit ! Your story appears to be fantastic ! A true space opera ! I also wrote a similar story "antim darshan " about a year back which was published in Vigyan Pragati where female protagonist is also programed to be self destructed lest any alien contaminate her with his amorous escapades ! How come we conceptualize almost same theme !
Dr.Arvind Dubey 's contribution must also be hailed and celebrated !

Popsamiti is a project curated by Tajender Sagoo. It is a platform for artists and writers to explore themes in art and culture with the aim to forge new narratives for the 21st century.

As part of this project a call was given in this group by tajender sagoo from London inviting contributions including science ficitons in south Indian languages. As I write in Tamil and English this was personally brought to my notice by Dr.Arvind Mishraji during a chat.I submitted two contributions.After several months of prepration a POPSAMITI paper has been launched in London in August.During the preparation several interaction with tajender sagoo was done including sending the Tamil font file and proofing the fiction.Due to space constraint one of my science fictions out of two sent has since been published.

My science ficition titled "IYANTHIRA MALAR" meaning Machine flower has been published in the 14 th page of the paper.

The gist of the story is the protagonist Bhrathwajan's sky-taxi mal-functions while in space when a woman rescues him by docking her sky-taxi with his and landing it to safety.The woman Selenna and Bharathwajan fall in love. Selena is from space colony. Bhrathwajan wants to marry Selenna after matching the RH facor. Selena takes leave of him after he proposes to him never to return. He goes in search of Selena to space colony. What he came to know was shocking : Selena was programmed woman destined to destruct at a particular time. She vainly tried to extend her life time but gets destructed and no she is no more. Yes she is an android or a machine woman(that's why the ficiton is titled Machine flower). Even though she was a machine her memories will take a long time to fade from his heart.

A hindi contribution from Dr.Arvind Dubey also finds a place in the paper.

Dear Kalkion Readers,

From this month onwards, we are changing our publication plan. From now onwards, we will be publishing one Fiction every week. The day will be Monday. So, now you will be getting 5 new science fiction stories per month. We look forward to your feed-back on this change in plan.

This week, we have published a very thought provoking story by Richard Tornello: A Child Is Born. The story is about an experiment conducted by a Humanoid on a human. It is a very touching tale of love and a future totalitarian society. The Artwork is by one of the finest artists, James R Powell.

A Child Is Born

We are like many couples in this place. We went to college, found decent jobs, purchased a comfortable house, enjoyed a few years as the two of us and planned for our child. Due to the pressures upon our society we, like every one else, went for genetic testing. We wanted to make sure and get approval for this important event.
