Dear Group Members,
I am forwarding an article that clearly points out the benefits
of Karanj over Jatropha.
'from the tenth year onwards, an acre of Pongamia will yield 2500
litres of SVO and an acre of Jatropha will yield 500L. '
http://www.project-return.org/resources-primer.asp
Jatropha is supported in this artile only becasue it gives yield from
first year. It is not true. There is scientifc recommendation that
for good yield seed collection must be started from third year. The
writer of the report is trying to hide the fact that Karanj
(Pongamia) trees are already present in our land. Only we have to
collect it and utilise for biodiesel. There no ned for large scale
plantation like Jatropha.
