The first objection is related to Indian biodiversity. Jatropha is
foreign plant. It is well known fact that if any foreign plant is
introduced in any ecosystem it disturbs the whole ecosystem. We are in
support of biodiesel project and want to promote petrocrops having
Indian origin. Indian scientists have listed over 300 species of plants
having enough potential as biodiesel. Most of the plants are Indian.
Why donot our planners are promoting the Indian plants having no damage
to biodiversity. Why only Jatropha is under promotion. Jatropha may be
good crop for South America but not for India. Plantation in millions
hact of Indian land will lead to the biodiversity damage and we have to
pay the cost. Simply promoting the Indian plants we can go for
biodiesel project without damage to biodiversity.
