Jatropha cultivators facing problems, says Kalam
"Farmers have started cultivating Jatropha in many areas. But they
face certain problems such as low productivity, non-availability of
standardised good seeds, technical advice, non-availability of
information about oil extraction and lack of knowledge about
prospective purchasers of jatropha seed or bio-fuel," he said.

Comments: But who is responsile for these problems? Jatropha is
under promotion without any plan as well as research. Indian farmers
are commiting suicide in large numbers for many reasons. Instead of
solving their problems our planners are introducing Jatropha like
plants. In Indian state Orissa Jatropha farmers are in grip
of 'Jatropha Mafia' engaged in selling of planting material to poor
farmers at high cost. Open support of planners are encouraging
Jatropha promoters to cheat farmers. Now Jatropha is reaching to
other countries like Philippines. Still today Australia is investing
much to destroy Jatropha considering it at problematic weed and new
countries are going to plant it in large scale.
This 'Jatropha Mafia' is becoming curse for whole world.
