INVADERS A POOR INVESTMENT
Recent proposals of dubious value, according to Dr McFadyen, include
schemes to establish plantations of physic nut (Jatropha curcas) for
biodiesel in northern Australia. A close relative of bellyache bush
(Jatropha gossypifolia), the idea has already been rejected by
scientists as unwise. Not only is the plant a serious weed risk, it
is also highly toxic to people and animals, she says.

Comments : No one knows when our planners learn from Australian
experience. Last month I met hundreds of natives of different states
of India where authorities have planted this obnoxious weed in the
name of biodiesel. Most of them said that this large scale
plantation will become curse for their land. I am preparing detailed
report.
