Jatropha = bad news

Like I said before, the fact that Jatropha is the 'growingest' plant
you ever saw and that it is toxic to animals means that it is an A1-
plus candidate to become a horribly damaging invasive alien plant,
of which we have more than enough in Africa.
The environmental community in SA is presently gearing up for a big
campaign to make sure that Jatropha doesn't becaome part of any
biofuels strategy in this country or elsewhere on the continent. It
would be great if the international enviro community thought twice
before endorsing this as a solution to anything.

Cheers

Monopoly of Jatropha promoters and Monoculture of Jatropha. There is
need to spread this healthy message.]
