Agrofuels / Hunger should not be part of EU energy deal, says ActionAid
BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, December 3, 2008/African Press
Organization (APO)/ â€" As tense negotiations on new European targets
for agrofuels reach their final stages this week, ActionAid is calling
on EU representatives in Brussels to carefully consider the negative
impact their decision will have on people in the developing world.
“We must be careful not to demonise agrofuels. However we are
seriously concerned about some of the impacts which the EU’s proposal
to expand agrofuels production will have on poor people” said Fatou
Mbaye, Biofuels Policy Officer, ActionAid Senegal.
