5 kids downed by jatropha fruits in GenSan

GENERAL SANTOS CITY â€" Five children, aged six to eight, were
hospitalized last Sunday after eating peanut-looking fruits from a
jatropha tree in this city.

Patients Aljun Galon, 8, and his brother Jejed, 7 were confined at the
General Santos District Hospital while neighbors Dona, 7; Alexis, 6;
and Irene, 8, were admitted at the Auguis Clinic.

They all complained of severe stomach pains, dizziness and vomiting,
doctors said.

It was learned that they all ate peanut-looking jatropha fruits they
found on Sampalok Street in Barangay West, here. (Bong Reblando)
