Dear Group Members,
Jatropha poisoning has taken five lives in India and affected thousands of
children. Children are still coming to hospitals. Before spreading poison in
their surroundings the Jatropha promoters made no effort to make them aware. In
India, Jatropha is now well known curse for biodiversity, wildlife and human
beings.
I am reading the news items about Jatropha promotion in Ghana but no one is
eager to aware the population about its potential harms. A friend from Ghana has
written to me that cases of Jatropha poisoning among children has started but
media is not exposing it.
My concern is very simple and clear. It seems that Jatropha promoters are
preparing for "Genocide in Ghana" like they have done in India (and in India no
one is punished for it, so far). Through this post I request the international
community to come forward to protect Ghana children and natives.
