BEYOND THE 'SHILLONG DECLARATION'; POLICY ISSUES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SHIFTING CULTIVATION IN THE HIMALAYAS

Welcome to the JHUMIAS. The Yahoo Group that started as a working group site for individuals and organisations working on 1) Documentation of Innovations in Shifting Cultivation in the Eastern Himalayas; and 2) Policy Imperatives with regard to Shifting Cultivation.

The project's first phase may now be formally over but our quest and interest in the practises and issues of JHUM and its practitioners continue. With or without projects and/or programmes, the Jhumias continue to inform and learn from each other. In the long run, we hope to develop this group site into a full fledged web site with added information, interactivity and knowledge from both practitioners, policy makers and researchers.
