Hello Friends,

I am seeking your kind help afer being disappointed
from all other sources. The issue lies in the thing
that recently, I downloaded kernel 2.6.9-22.EL source
rpm and I want to upgrade my system's
kernel(2.6.9-5.EL)Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 ES to the
newer one. I installed the source rpm by issuing the
command 'rpm -ivh kernel-2.6.9-22.EL.src.rpm'. The
system shows the hashes confirming the installation.
but i don't see anychanges in /etc/grub.conf file.
Please suggest me an effective way to sort out this
problem.

Thanks
Raghav Jha

Dear Raghav, You had just installed the Source RPM, but not the binary RPM. So it won't do any changes to your Grub file. You need to install the x86 rpms...
