Re: [linux_chandigarh] DATAONE ON OPENSUSE 10.2

1) Go to yast control center
2) look for an option that lets you configure network
3) choose adsl as the mode. Give username and password
4) it will ask you if you want to activate it and test it. u can skip this. also it gives u an option to start the connection at boot. choose the option that best fits ur requirements.
5) Now again go back to yast
6) look to install a program
7) install "kinternet" yast will pull dependencies.
8) When u want to connect , run the kinternet application (you do not need to do this if u have selected the option to start network at boot)
9) near the date (in kde) you will see a plug which is un plugged. Just clicl on it once. Thats it.

Mandriva 2007 is trickey. It just forgets your settings !!
Get suse done first. we can then talk about mandriva..

If the above method fails, we have another one. That is configuring your router to dial in. But tha i would explain later if required.

We need more info about what all errors you got while trying to
configure your connection. And how is your adsl modem configured.
There are 2 ways to go about configuring an adsl account , either you
can configure the modem to directly connect to the ISP (in your case
BSNL) to authenticate your username and passwd or you can configure your
Linux OS to make the connection to the ISP.

You can also try out the following links for more information:
