OSS development model : Is it pyramidal ?   Message List

Hello All

Please look at the Tux painting adoring linux_schools group

http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/linux_schools/

This was created by Ms.Mehek , 11 year old from Hyderabad using tuxpaint.

Can we compare the penguin pyramids to OSS development model ?

This painting depicts a game held in India during Lord Krishnas
birthday celebrations. The purpose of the game is to break one pot
filled with some treasure high above the ground.

During the game, the participants are disturbed by throwing water on
them by the spectators. The participants fall many times.

Recently there was one article about the OSS development model having
no democratic setup. The complaint was only a few people called the
"inner core" do the real development.

I feel the pyramid painting rightly depicts this scenario.

The inner core are responsible for most of the things, but we have to
also consider the support of the lower layer of the pyramid.

Shall we have some discussion on this.
