Skoch Development Foundation (SDF) is a not for profit company incorporated under section 25 of Indian companies act. The foundation has been incorporated keeping in view the empowerment and inclusive development needs of rural communities in India and South Asia. The mission of the organization is to work for ensuring social, digital and financial inclusion of disadvantaged communities to accelerate the initiatives towards achieving Millennium Development Goals in a systematic manner by creating enabling multi-stakeholder partnership frameworks.

1)      Position Title: Practice Head –Education and e-learning

Position Overview:  Skoch is expanding its area of operation and plans to work extensibly in the domain of Education and e-learning. The organization believes that employability based education has to be the major thrust area for country education policy. Additionally, imparting digital literacy to the citizens of the country needs to be the focus so as to help rural population participate in emerging information society developments.

The organization has already consulted various stakeholders and has had wide-ranging discussions with the government agencies, civil society organizations and industry in this regards.  We are now planning to start a monthly publication for disseminating the best practice models and bridging the gap among education community practitioners and policy makers. A large number of national stakeholder consultations are planned with the first consultation scheduled during Skoch Summit India @ Work 2008 through a dedication session on Education and Employability followed by a two day summit in November.

Job Description: Building strategic partnerships with stakeholders & resource mobilization is an essential part of our strategy and we are looking for a Practice Head to attain this goal.  The Practice Head will focus on exploring, mapping and arranging partnership as well as on funding opportunities with strategic partners, global foundations, bi-lateral and multilateral agencies, global philanthropic organizations, social investment funds etc. He/she will take the lead in developing and supporting proposal writing for fundraising. This will require understanding of donor requirements and assessing compatibility with Skoch values and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of the corporate partnerships and resource mobilization policy and procedures as well as represent Skoch in all related activities. This will include support to editorial team of the publication, public relations and communication initiatives.
• Draw up resource mobilization plans, including budgets, with realistic targets and milestones;         support national stakeholder consultations and workshops to retain an equal balance between the impact areas.   Work closely with the CEO, editorial team, the communications officer and country directors to nurture and develop new relationships with key stakeholders, partners including foundations; develop an effective domain track system through ongoing market research.
• Establishing strong links with knowledge development networks to profile SDF and SCS;         oversee and analyze research to identify new sources of funding; stay abreast of philanthropic, economic and social and community trends related to education domain and ensure that concerned officers in Skoch are informed of trends and initiatives that might impact on the programs and strategic positioning choices of the organization.
• Regular travel within and outside of the country will be required.

Job Qualifications

• Masters degree from a recognized university or institution in development studies, economic , strategic management or  social sciences
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in a multifaceted development work
• Experience in developing solid working relationships and team work; demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets
• Computer literate; preferably strong development  sector background or solid knowledge of key organizations in that sector
•  A  track record as an effective communicator who is articulate and persuasive in written and verbal communications; adept at crafting proposals, donor correspondence and other kinds of materials and making presentations to a variety of audiences.
•  An individual with credibility, good judgment, honesty, integrity, trust, and the ability to motivate others in a similar vein
• Team-focused, must enjoy and be successful at working in teams as well as results oriented and proactive in approach

Job Description: Skoch Development Foundation is associated in bringing out publications in the field of social inclusion, governance, education, healthcare, banking, financial and insurance services.  SDF analyzes current and emerging issues in these domains and produces new ideas that matter - for the nation and the world.

SDF has openings for two senior research associates to provide support to the publications and interact with the leaders in the domain for coordinating articles, interviews and market updates. Senior Research Associates are also required to assist in the organization of meetings, events and related outreach activities of Skoch Development Foundation.

Job qualifications: Education/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with three years of research experience in related domains
• Master's degree with one year of research experience in related domains
• Demonstrated experience in working with governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on international development and issues related to governance, healthcare, education and BFSI
• Experience in handling large data sets and knowledge repositories

Knowledge Requirements

• Knowledge of ICT for development issues
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to meet rapid, multiple deadlines in a fast paced work environment
• Professional demeanor and high level of comfort working with high-profile individuals from government/international sector
• Ability to work well under pressure with discretion and mature judgment
