Hi am Vignesh owner of Fun_Kingdom group. In past Yahoo! groups directory was based on members count of the group ie) the group which has the maximum members will be listed first and so it goes on. But now few months back Yahoo! had changed the setting of the directory if am not mistaken. And according to this directory i dont know how this works exactly when i browsed through friends category today i came across many ADULT groups listed in friends category, and also the group with less no of members are also displayed in the very first page... So could anyone tell me how this directory works...

There is no mechanism by which you can avoid getting added from so called " Spamming" groups. The definition of Spamming group varies from person to person. Hence there cannot be a way to technically do something against them. What you can do is to report abuse. Whenever someone is added, there comes a Yahoo autoresponse also, informing the person that he has been added to such and such group. At the bottom of that notice there is ' Report Abuse' link. You should report abuse for such cases.
If its an Indian group then you can report abuse by forwarding the Add notice with your comments to in-groups@... or to groups-abuse@... in case of non-Indian groups.
The add facility has been given, so that the owners/moderators can add new members who are not so much familiar with internet/Yahoo groups and have requested the owner/moderator of that group to add him/her. Even for your own group if you add someone in the described circumstances, you should keep the original request of the person safely with you, as that same person in future may report abuse against you out of malicious intentions. At least you will have the proof of his request with you. Read below the Yahoo Terms of Services on Adding/inviting people. Read specially the reddened portions.
What's the difference between "Invite Members" and "Add Members"?
People you
invite are treated to the option to accept or turn down the invitation, while
people you add are simply added to the group.
Also, members
you add (rather than invite) start out with email-only memberships to the
group. This means they'll have to go through the Membership Wizard process to get access
to the group's web site.
With
"Invite Members", an email invitation goes out to people you want to
join the group. You can use their email address or Yahoo! ID. Until they
respond to the invitation, people on this list aren't members. When they accept,
they're in—with full access to whichever features you've enabled on the
group's web page.
With "Add
Members", you're automatically adding members to your group's mailing list.
They get a welcome email to the Group and automatically become email-only
members, joining your Group's mailing list.
Please use this
feature only if you've received permission to do so from the people you're
adding.
Note: It's against the Yahoo! Groups Terms of Service to add people to your group without their permission. Yahoo! Groups
provides the "Add Members" feature as a convenience to group
moderators for those occasions that require directly importing a few email
addresses to a group. If you abuse this feature, your group will be deleted and

Now i look every thing in positive way and want to inspire and motivate people with Positive wallpapers, Articles,Mails and Poems like i get motivated by yahoo group mails
I express my thoughts in positive way and try to inspire thousands of people in yahoo group for that purpose i have started Shayariworld Group "A Place 2 Express your Thoughts and Feelings in words"
I have inspired by Great works of Poets like Rabindarnath Tagore, Sarojini Naidu, Mirza Ghalib, Sadi, Rumi, Chanakya,Vivek Ananda and other great personalities.
I start writing poetry after that. I love to inspire people, motivate them, I like to give them
inspiration and make their day very happy. They sometimes were depressed after hard day work and my mails make them happy and give them a moment to relax and enjoy their time and learning at same time. and many people called thank me and appreciate my works and they told how much happy they felt after reading my Inspirational poems and mails
Main Purpose of Starting Shayariworld Group was to inspire people and motivate them in their career and life. and to spread happiness, Friendship and love in this world. This Shayariworld Group is a world of people who inspire and motivate and entertain people and show them positive light which is helpful to thousands of people through Yahoo Groups and if my group is promoted this great work is known to many people and they can benefit from them.
I guide people in career and live by my mails on Inspiration and Personality Development and give them good suggestions what they like to go in life. I suggest to do what you like and what you are comfortable in doing it.

During the Banglore meet of YahooIndia and Moderators, we were informed by Yahoo Inc. that the Yahoo Adserve facility will be soon extended to other parts of the world, specially for Yahoo groups. At present its available only in the USA and Canada. Can you pl. throw some light on this. Shefali I see that our moderators discussion group has the facility of Yahoo Adserve. How is this Indian Yahoo group getting this facility? I am not cross questioning you, but am inquisitive on the issue.

I dont think that 15 mb is a big size, keeping in mind that people like to send video files to the group. Because of small 1 mb attachment size earlier, there were many pps, ppt, .bmp, and video files that couldnt be shared in the group. What needs to be done is that Yahoo fixes the bugs in its software. Attachments of 2-2.5 mb are not posing any problem, but higher size attachments are causing the problem.
