Contrary to speculations in some quarters, the Sharad Pawar-led
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which has eight MPs in the Lok
Sabha, today said the party would not support the Vajpayee
Government "in the event of its fall".
''NCP considers speculations and rumours about its support to NDA
Government as mischievous and intended to damage the image of the
party", NCP General Secretary Tariq Anwar said in a press release.
Categorically stating that NCP would not "save the NDA Government in
Parliament, in the event of its fall", he said that as a party
committed to nationalist, secular, pro-people ideals, NCP was first
to demand the resignation of Modi Government for its "failure" to
uphold constitutional duty and obligations.
"NCP considers Vajpayee Government corrupt, communal, anti-poor and
is leading a nation-wide movement against the misdeeds of this
Government", he said.
