NCP to vote against NDA govt in Lok Sabha: Sangma   Message List

JAIPUR: Accusing the BJP of pursuing its "hidden agenda of communal
divide in the country", the Nationalist Congress Party leader P A
Sangma said here on Saturday that his party would vote in support of
the Opposition sponsored censure motion against the Vajpayee
government in the Lok Sabha.

"We welcome the ruling of Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, P M Sayeed, to
hold the discussion on Gujarat situation in the House under rule 184,
which provides for voting and the NCP has decided to support the
motion", Sangma told reporters.

He charged that while the BJP was playing "Hindu card", the Congress
was playing "Muslim card" for garnering votes.

By pursuing its "hidden agenda" the BJP was falling a prey to the two
nation theory by sending out message that Muslims had no place in
India, he alleged.

Describing the situation in the country as "very disturbing" Sangma
said, the manner in which the Gujarat situation was handled, "we have
every reason to believe that BJP was pursuing its hidden agenda".

Sangma said the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had no legal or
moral right to continue in office. Either he should quit or the
Central government should remove him and impose President's rule
under Article 356 of the Constitution, he demanded.

Sangma said he would not go back to the Congress and said his party
was trying to emerge as the third alternative.

After the failure of Third Front experiment, the only long term
solution to solve the country's problems was a third single party,
which could be an alternative to the Congress and the BJP, he said.

Favouring fixing of retirement age for politicians, he said, "I will
certainly retire on attaining the age of 65 years".

Referring to the situation in the north east, Sangma said insurgency
had become an "industry" there but people were fed up and want
development which could bring peace.
