Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar, who was
admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Breach Candy Hospital
after he felt uneasy at a function at Nashik on Friday night,
underwent an angiography on Saturday morning.
"No complications or blocks were detected in the test, and he is
perfectly all right," State Health Minister Digvijay Khanvilkar
said. The angiography was performed by a panel of senior doctors
led by Dr Ashwin Mehta.
NCP General Secretary and close Pawar aide Praful Patel said the NCP
chief is 100 per cent all right.
"In fact, Pawar saheb walked to his car and to the plane in Nashik.
This incident (of complaint of uneasiness) was a blessing in
disguise.
"Because of this, all investigations could be completed. He will be
discharged by Monday morning and may travel to Delhi next week,"
Patel said.
Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan
Bhujbal, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh, Reliance
Group chief Mukesh Ambani, his brother Anil and NCP ministers and
leaders visited the hospital yesterday.
Pawar had complained of giddiness and difficulty in breathing at a
function at Nashik on Friday.
He reached the venue for the felicitation and birthday celebration
of NCP Nashik unit chief Dr Vasant Pawar at 8 pm Friday. However, he
felt giddy on the dais and was rushed to Shushruth Hospital.
Since it was not possible to airlift him in the night, he was kept
at Nashik on Friday night.
A team of doctors led by Dr Vasant Pawar conducted tests such as ECG
and reports indicated everything was normal.
Doctors in Mumbai attending on him described his condition
as "stable" and his pulse rate and blood pressure as normal.
Bhujbal and a few state ministers, who had air-dashed to Nashik on
Friday night to enquire about Pawar's health, accompanied him on his
flight from the Ojhar airstrip, about 21 kms from Nashik, police
said.
Well-known cardiac surgeon Dr Nitu Mandke was also present, they
said.
"Pawar is stable and has been asked to take complete rest," a senior
doctor at Breach Candy said.
