The Arunachal Pradesh Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)
today expressed resentment over the Gegong Apang-led
Congress government for its failure to form State
Information Commission.
Criticizing the state government's attitude, NCP
secretary Nabam Jallow said an order issued by the
Union Ministry of Law and Justice directed all the
state governments, except Jammu and Kashmir, for
formation of State Information Commission under the
Right to Information Act 2005, by October 13 to
promote transparency and accountability, which would
enable the ordinary citizens to obtain vital
information and contain corruption.
But, the Apang government had failed to comply with
the directives, he lamented.
To root out corruption, nepotism, red-tapeism and
effective implementation of all the central sponsored
schemes in this border state, Mr Jallow urged the
government to constitute State Information Commission
immediately.
