Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar was admitted to a
private hospital in the city on Friday night after he complained of
uneasiness.

Pawar, who was in the city in connection with the birthday
celebrations of NCP Nasik city president Vasant Pawar, complained of
discomfort soon after he stood up to deliver his speech.

Meanwhile, Pawar's personal secretary said that the NCP chief might
have suffered uneasiness due to a hectic tour.

Pawar is being treated at Sushrut hospital here, he added.

Members we all pray that he gets well soon.

Friends,

Mr. Shriniwas Deshpandey is now no longer with us.
Our tribute to Mr. Shrinivas Despandey who left us some days ago he
was the sincerer and dedicated Party leader for NCP.

I have not seen leader like this in my many year's carriers of
political life. I must request you all to pray for his soul must be
rest of peace.
If he could not have taken interest North West districts then I am
sure that Mr. Ramesh Dubey would have been handicapped in the
running of Districts in my opinion.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar, who was
admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Breach Candy Hospital
after he felt uneasy at a function at Nashik on Friday night,
underwent an angiography on Saturday morning.

"No complications or blocks were detected in the test, and he is
perfectly all right," State Health Minister Digvijay Khanvilkar
said. The angiography was performed by a panel of senior doctors
led by Dr Ashwin Mehta.

NCP General Secretary and close Pawar aide Praful Patel said the NCP
chief is 100 per cent all right.

"In fact, Pawar saheb walked to his car and to the plane in Nashik.
This incident (of complaint of uneasiness) was a blessing in
disguise.

"Because of this, all investigations could be completed. He will be
discharged by Monday morning and may travel to Delhi next week,"
Patel said.

Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan
Bhujbal, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh, Reliance
Group chief Mukesh Ambani, his brother Anil and NCP ministers and
leaders visited the hospital yesterday.

Pawar had complained of giddiness and difficulty in breathing at a
function at Nashik on Friday.

He reached the venue for the felicitation and birthday celebration
of NCP Nashik unit chief Dr Vasant Pawar at 8 pm Friday. However, he
felt giddy on the dais and was rushed to Shushruth Hospital.

Since it was not possible to airlift him in the night, he was kept
at Nashik on Friday night.

A team of doctors led by Dr Vasant Pawar conducted tests such as ECG
and reports indicated everything was normal.

Doctors in Mumbai attending on him described his condition
as "stable" and his pulse rate and blood pressure as normal.

Bhujbal and a few state ministers, who had air-dashed to Nashik on
Friday night to enquire about Pawar's health, accompanied him on his
flight from the Ojhar airstrip, about 21 kms from Nashik, police
said.

Well-known cardiac surgeon Dr Nitu Mandke was also present, they
said.
"Pawar is stable and has been asked to take complete rest," a senior
doctor at Breach Candy said.

Former CM Narayan Rane suffered a severe political setback on
Tuesday after the Shiv Sena was trounced by the NCP in the elections
to the Kankavli municipal council in Sindhudurg district.

Of the 17 seats, the NCP won all the 10 it contested. The Congress
bagged five and the Sena two. Sandesh Parkar (NCP) was elected
president of the municipal council. The elections were held on
Sunday. Mr Rane had personally campaigned in Kankavli, where his posh
bungalow had been torched, for over a week to ensure the success of
the Sena.

The party leadership may now take a dim view of his leadership
capabilities following his failure to see the party through, Sena
watchers said. Meanwhile, the NCP trounced the BJP in elections to
the Jamner municipal council in Jalgaon district.

The NCP won 13 of the 20 seats. Elated by the victory, NCP state
president R.R. Patil said, "the Kankavli results show that the
politics of intimidation has no place in Maharashtra.''

Accusing the congress of "deviating" from its ideologies and
traditions and launching a scathing attack on Chhattisgarh chief
minister Ajit Jogi, veteran party leader V C Shukla joined NCP on
April 11 2003 .

Welcoming Shukla, a nine-time Lok Sabha MP who resigned from
Congress, into the party-fold, Pawar said that his (Shukla's) joining
NCP would give a new dimension to Chhattishgarh politics.

Describing the senior Congress leader as an able "parliamentarian and
administrator", Pawar told that Shukla would be the new chief of the
Chhattisgarh unit of NCP.

Interview Of Bhau by Bombay Times on 12 May 2003

Intv:-
For months, the NCP had no voice in city issues. Now there is hectic
activity. What are the issues you are foucusing on?

Bhau:-
I've been talking to all MLAs and we've agreed that MUMBAI needs
master plan for development. Institutions like Mharashtra Housing
and Area Development Authority (MHADA) and Mumbai Metropolitan Region
Development Authority (MMRDA) must focus on rehabilitation schemes
for slum-dwellers. There is so much land available across the city
for this. This must be a priority.

Intv:-
But there's already a scheme to rehouse slum-dwellers. What new
ideas are you propagating?

Bhau:-
Slum Redevelopment Authority schemes have not worked. They are not
financially viable for developers and some of them are in ligitation
because of Costal Regulation Zone (CRZ) issues.

Intv:-
Isn't the NCP going over board with insisting on the national anthem?

Bhau:-
Not at all. There is an attempt to create differences between people
over languages, cast and religion. Through the national anthem,we are
creating an atmosphere of nationalism.

Intv:-
But why impose it on people?

Bhau:-
That is what the media feels. On the other hand ,the respose of the
people is great. People are standing up in theaters and now we want
it to spread to colleges.

Intv:-
Hasn't the Telgi controversy damaged the NCP's image?

Bhau:-
It's had no impact on the party. It is clear that all allegations
against Deputy Cheif Minister Chhagan Bhujbal are wrong.

IntV:-
What is your party's response to the Shiv Sena's sons of the soil
campaign?

Bhau:-
Whenever we hear this slogan, it is clear that the civic or Assembly
elections are around the corner. It's a stunt. the rising population
is a big concern but since it is a Constitutional issue. By offering
free houses, the Sena has ensured that,in fact, more people come to
Mumbai.

Shillong, May 20: NCP general secretary P A Sangma today said he was
working as a 'facilitator' of talks between the Centre and some
insurgent groups of Meghalaya with the knowledge of the Union
government.

''I am doing my bit as a facilitator to bring some insurgent groups
for a dialogue with the Centre and I reiterate that I am doing it
with the knowledge of the government of India'', Sangma, a Lok Sabha
member from Meghalaya, told reporters here without naming the
militant outfits.

He said if any politician took any initiative to bring insurgent
groups to negotiating table for a dialogue with a view to restore
peace in the state or country, it could not be termed as 'nexus'
between the two.

The government should be clear about its definition of 'nexus', the
former Lok Sabha speaker said in an apparent reference to Meghalaya
government's objection to the status of a 'facilitator'.

Meghalaya home minister R G Lyngdo had recently said the state had
written a letter to the Centre seeking to know if Sangma or Mizoram
Chief Minister Zoramathanga or a former minister were 'authorised' to
facilitate talks with the banned Achik National Volunteer Council
(ANVC) militants of the Garo hills region.

If the Meghalaya government or a minister of the Centre did not know
the process ''that is not my fault, but the Prime Minister is in the
knowledge of it'', he claimed.

The MP said the Central government perhaps did not feel it necessary
to inform the state about the peace process at this stage, Sangma
said.

Once again we faced loss in thane why ?, even though we were fighting
the election with congress.

Is their any internal problems in the party or is our party going
weak somewhere ?

Majority of the party workers having good post in the party have
given resignation form the post yesterday why ?

If someone dont sort out the problem now we will have to face heavy
loss in the coming election.

Bhubaneswar, May 24: Calling upon the intelligentsia to enter
politics, NCP general secretary and former Lok Sabha speaker Purno A
Sangma today said it will lead to the democratic structure of the
country becoming stronger.

"The biggest problem of the Indian polity is that good, honest and
educated people are shying away from politics," he said while
delivering a talk on future of parliamentary democracy in India
organised by the forum for developing thoughts here.

"It is time to go back to ideology and principles and good people
must come to politics," he said adding bad people were entering the
political arena banking on money and muscle power.

A few years ago rich zamindars and thakurs were portrayed as bad men
in films, but today characters of politicians and policemen were
being projected as villains on celluloid, the NCP leader said.

Referring to Bollywood movies, Sangma said the nexus, said to be
existing between politicians and criminals, was dangerous but the
alliance between politicians and bureaucrats was proving to be more
dangerous.

He bemoaned that there was no political ideology in the country and
politicians were running away from it. "Unfortunately, politics today
was based on personalities."

"We have to go back to ideology and principles to win the confidence
of the people," Sangma said.

Hello Shashi,
Hope ur in good health, sorry for replying late due to some party
work in kalyan taluka i was not able to check your mail.
Yes we lost in Thane,i came to know about it from my friend
Mr.Pashanth Gawad,Mharashtra Pradesh Youth General Secretary.
There is no as such internal problems in the party, but to tell u
frankly some people work for there own interest than party and public
interest, this mainly causes a rift between party workers and peoples
due to which clashes in view take place causing sevear damage to
partys image.
People have not resigned till date as what i have been told but they
were gonna resign,Party High command had a meating with all those
leaders and the problm has been sorted out,so nothing to worrie about
now.
Remember one thing "Failures Are the Stepping Stones Of Success"
we will definetly come back in full form, party needs dynamic people
like you to come in forefront and play a good role in politics of NCP.

dear friend,

this letter seems interesting.... but how true ....?
this is not an unanswered question.... but a known
fact, that be it sangma, or pawar, or advani, or
vajpayee, or even sonia gandhi, how many of them are
honest and genuinely interested in the masses, how
many of them are interested in reaching out to the
poor man on the streets ? how many of them are
concerned for the day to day problems faced by the
common man, ? NONE for that reason. just imagine a
few facts here.

a honest clerk in a govt office earns a clean
7000-9000 per month. he is given house rent
allowance, for say about rs 1000, but he ends up
paying rs 2000 the minimum, or even more. he is left
with just 8,000.
the he pays rs 1500 electricity bill, another 800
towards muncipal taxes, society taxes, he needs about
1200 towards his commuting to office and home,
he has not had mhis meals yet ...n find in his poskect
just rs 4500 of his salary left, he has bills to pay,
groceries another 1500, school fees and books for his
children rs 600/- private tution fees rs 1000/-, day
to day necessities in the kitchen n home @ rs 100/day,
another 3,000. this takes him to already realizing
that he runs short of Rs 1600 already, and the
government caes a damn, whether its his sliver wedding
anniversary, or whether his son has topped in the ssc
exams , or whether he has a daughter to be mariied, or
whether he needs to pay for his mothers operation, oh
the govt cares a damn !
yeah but I forgot, that this man had not had a decent
pair of trousers or a shirt for the last 2 diwali's n
the ones he is earing presently is darned and neatly
repaired by his wife..... gosh the tailor asked for Rs
25/- why not do it at home....... but this family has
a dream, .... they wish to go on a pilgrimage ... to
their family diety's shrine, and that too this dream
is long over due....... but why not just take the
LTC, n get going, ...... Goah cant they fast.....
abstain .... and just keep praying all their way to n
fro..... after all their are on a pilgrimage.....
what's the need to spend another 5,000/- WHERE DOES
THIS MONEY COME FROM.

would they even be in a position to sing " God save
the king "

I havbe been shouting all these years, n putting up
these problems for the common man , but theer's no one
to listen. sangma, should remember his previous days,
n have some sympathy for the man on the streets, as
all this loud talk is a part of another markettign
strategy.... there the polls round the corner.

Oh yeah I jumbled it up, ........ but buddy, you n i
are rich enough to feed ou child with icecreams, but
just look back, your neighbour needs your love.

good luck.

yes dear friend
your facts are absolutely right, but we people must understand one
thing, that just by punching some good lines we cannot change the way
the people live here...

to be frank enough tell me do you have the time or the tanacity to
make a diffrence the way our society works...

lets say even if you have the time and try to make the diffrence
where do u think u will land up...

our society has become immune to our dirty social and political
system there is no one who cares, the people who care are busy with
their career, business or their own life its the "so what attitude"

a few people will not make a diffrence... or can we...

Dear pratik,
Thanks for your reply, atleast two people cared to

My answer to your questions are a emphatic YES.
yes indeed, but it does need one powerful , strong
man up there on the chairs of power with a will to do
it, and let me tell you , you could have been seeing
the BJP in the news , they say they bagan with just 2
seats, and are on 200 today, n look forward for 300

beilieve this, as if we cant gain anything for
ourselves, NO PROBLEM, but atleast lets sow the seed,
, that it grows into a gigantic tree bearing fruit for
our children. I am sure you shall agree this with me.

all i wish to have ; meet one big powerful politician
personally, discuss n then execute my plans.....
believe me, one this man leaves this world, he shall
be worshipped, alongside god, the way it is happening
to M. Gandhi...

where can i find thisstrong powerful man, ... where,?
is he / she a paar, sangma, thakre, advani,
s.gandhi, who... who.,..... lets see who ?
