| After months and
months of anticipation, it's finally... over. It seems like only
yesterday that Harry Potter fans all over were anxious for Lumos 2006
to arrive. And let me tell you, what an exciting adventure it has been.
With so many events planned, fans were looking forward to three days of
fun-filled Harry Potter mania. Lumos would be the perfect opportunity
to go crazy and not feel bad for one second because you knew that you
would be surrounded by other dedicated fans just like yourself. And to
add to the Harry Potter madness, MuggleNet's very own podcast
MuggleCast would be presenting a live podcast there.
I had the opportunity to be in attendance, and words
cannot even begin to describe what an amazing experience I had.
Everywhere I turned, there
was a Luna Lovegood, a Neville Longbottom, and of course, a Harry
Potter. Many participated in the convention's many activities, while
others attended panel discussions that concentrated in certain areas of
the Harry Potter realm. Participants at the convention were sorted into
different Houses, in order for us to get a sense of a Hogwarts
atmosphere. Although the divisions existed among the guests, everyone
knew they were there for one reason and one reason only: their love for
Harry Potter.
And that is what brought everyone together, and made Lumos such an
amazing experience for everyone that was witness to it.
Aside from the endless amounts of great activities that
were going on at the convention, MuggleNet and the Leaky Cauldron came
together to present a live
LeakyMug Podcast on Saturday, July 29th. Among the LeakyMug crew were
our very own Andrew Sims, Ben Schoen, Kevin Steck, Eric Scull, Laura
Thompson, Jamie
Lawrence, and Emerson Spartz; with Melissa Anelli, John Noe, Sue Upton,
and countless others representing for the Leaky Cauldron. Before the
podcast, fans were treated
to a special live opening act with The Remus Lupins who pumped up the
crowd by having the audience get up from their chairs and start
dancing!
And here we are, back to reality... Although it was such
a great time for myself and for everyone that attended, all great
things come to an end. But never fear, the JKR reading in New York City
is still happening and we'll be sure to bring you the latest on this
special event firsthand. Lumos 2006 was a great experience for me, and
I am so happy that I had the chance to become part of it and I hope
that everyone who did go can say the same! As for me, it's back to
work!
