Siwan Culture, Siwan Oasis - Connection between India, Egypt, Libya, Africa

Thanks to todays Times of India, I came to know of "Siwan Culture" & "Siwan Oasis" in Sahara Desert.
Hinduism - Saivism is the Oldest Religion in the World. Siva is the Oldest God till now unearthed.

Westerners may name it "Siwa" a small spelling difference, but the Legend is same.

Oracle of Lord Shiva?

Excerpts from site :- http://www.all-about-egypt.com/siwa.html

The Siwa Oasis is located between the Qattara Depression and the Egyptian Sand Sea in the Libyan Desert, approximately 50 km east of the Libyan border, and some 560 km from Cairo.

About 80 km in length and 20 km wide, it is one of Egypt's most isolated settlements, home to about 23,000 people, the majority of whom are ethnic Berbers who speak a distinct language known as Siwi. Agriculture is the main activity, primarily the growing of dates and olives.

Cambyses, who ruled Egypt between 525 and 522 BC, wanted to destroy the Oracle, but he lost his army somewhere in the vast outreaches of the Western Desert. Pliny tells us that this was because the sacred stone at the temple [Shiva Linga?] was touched by sacrilegious hand, which caused a dreaded sand storm to rage.

There is a legend that Pindar, the famous Greek poet who lived between 522 and 443 BC, wrote a poem about the Oracle that was kept under the altar for six centuries. [in Tamilnadu also we kept Thevarams under the Chidambaram Temple Lingam Altar]

We are told that Alexander the Great, in 331 BC) consulted the Oracle in order to seek confirmation that he was the son of Zeus (Amun), and therefore a legitimate ruler of both Egypt and other lands that he conquered.  When he and his entourage arrived after capturing Egypt, a manifestation of the Oracle was paraded through the city accompanied by eighty priests.

the Elians were so deeply influenced by the Oracle that they kept a list of all their questions and answers provided by the Oracle, which they engraved in stone upon a temple wall.

By the time that Strabo visited Siwa after the birth of Jesus Christ, he noted that the Oracle was no longer as powerful and was in decline.

The temple is reached by climbing a well-marked path up the side of the rock it surmounts. The temple does not occupy the entire area. It sites within the village that was abandoned for the most part in 1926 after a heavy rainstorm. Until very recently, at least some families actually lived in the temple.

The inscriptions being at the two sides of the entrance to this chamber, and continue on the side walls, though it seems that the back wall may never have been inscribed. To the right of the entrance is the figure of King Amasis, in whose reign the temple was built and decorated, though his head and body have been chiseled out.  The crown of the North upon his head was left intact. The king's name is written inside a cartouche in front of him. He offers rounded vases of wine to eight deities who stand facing him in a row, preceded by Amun, who are represented on the east wall. Other gods on the wall include Amun's consort, Amenre, MutKhonsu and Mahesa. [note the word Mahesa] The last deity is a female who wears the double crown, but her inscription is completely destroyed. The accompanying text reads, "I give life to the Chief of the desert-dwellers, Sutekh-irdes".

Read More on Old Siwan Culture, now converted to Islamism, yet maintaining many Hindu Rituals.

Capital suggestion
By Dr Farrukh Saleem

Here's what is happening in India :
The two Ambani brothers can buy 100 percent of every company listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) and would still be left with $30 billion to spare. The four richest Indians can buy up all goods and services produced over a year by 169 million Pakistanis and still be left with $60 billion to spare. The four richest Indians are now richer than the forty richest Chinese.
In November, Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark Sensex flirted with 20,000 points. As a consequence, Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries became a $100 billion company (the entire KSE is capitalized at $65 billion). Mukesh owns 48 percent of Reliance.
In November, comes Neeta's birthday. Neeta turned forty-four three weeks ago. Look what she got from her husband as her birthday present:
A sixty-million dollar jet with a custom fitted master bedroom, bathroom with mood lighting, a sky bar, entertainment cabins, satellite television, wireless communication and a separate cabin with game consoles. Neeta is Mukesh Ambani's wife, and Mukesh is not India 's richest but the second richest.
Mukesh is now building his new home, Residence Antillia (after a mythical, phantom island somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean ). At a cost of $1 billion this would be the most expensive home on the face of the planet. At 173 meters tall Mukesh's new family residence, for a family of six, will be the equivalent of a 60-storeyed building. The first six floors are reserved for parking. The seventh floor is for car servicing and maintenance. The eighth floor houses a mini-theatre. Then there's a health club, a gym and a swimming pool. Two floors are reserved for Ambani family's guests. Four floors above the guest floors are family floors all with a superb view of the Arabian Sea . On top of everything are three helipads. A staff of 600 is expected to care for the family and their family home.
In 2004, India became the 3rd most attractive foreign direct investment destination... Pakistan wasn't even in the top 25 countries.
In 2004, the United Nations, the representative body of 192 sovereign member states, had requested the Election Commission of India to assist the UN in the holding elections in Al Jumhuriyah al Iraqiyah and Dowlat-e Eslami-ye Afghanestan. Why the Election Commission of India and not the Election Commission of Pakistan? After all, Islamabad is closer to Kabul than is Delhi .
Imagine, 12 percent of all American scientists are of Indian origin; 38 percent of doctors in America are Indian; 36 percent of NASA scientists are Indians; 34 percent of Microsoft employees are Indians; and 28 percent of IBM employees are Indians.
For the record: Sabeer Bhatia created and founded Hotmail... Sun Microsystems was founded by Vinod Khosla. The Intel Pentium processor, that runs 90 percent of all computers, was fathered by Vinod Dham. Rajiv Gupta co-invented Hewlett Packard's E-speak project. Four out often Silicon Valley start-ups are run by Indians. Bollywood produces 800 movies per year and six Indian ladies have won Miss Universe/Miss World titles over the past 10 years.
For the record: Azim Premji, the richest Muslim entrepreneur on the face of the planet, was born in Bombay and now lives in Bangalore.India now has more than three dozen billionaires; Pakistan has none (not a single dollar billionaire) .
The other amazing aspect is the rapid pace at which India is creating wealth. In 2002, Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh and Anil Ambani's father, left his two sons a fortune worth $2.8 billion. In 2007, their combined wealth stood at $94 billion. On 29 October 2007, as a result of the stock market rally and the appreciation of the Indian rupee, Mukesh became the richest person in the world, with net worth climbing to US$63.2 billion (Bill Gates, the richest American, stands at around $56 billion). Indians and Pakistanis have the same Y-chromosome haplogroup. We have the same genetic sequence and the same genetic marker (namely: M124).
We have the same DNA molecule, the same DNA sequence. Our culture, our traditions and our cuisine are all the same. We watch the same movies and sing the same songs. What is it that Indians have and we don't?
INDIANS ELECT THEIR LEADERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And also to mention: They think of Construction of own nation, unlike other nations who are just concerned with destruction of others...

Simple answer why the Indian fare better than the Pakis'.. They don't focus on religion and neither do they spend time and money in devising ways to kill their own and everyone else over religion.

Kamals Unnai Pol Oruvan : My Review

Saw Unnai Pol Oruvan, the remake of "A Wednesday"
Good movie. **** [four stars]

Everyone shares the Global Anger on Terrorism, Bomb Blasts, Communal Violence.
So, naturally the movie addressed the comman man's concern - other than Rotti, Kapda, Makaan, Power Cuts.

After the
  • Diwali Delhi SN Market Blasts,
  • Hyderabad Cinema Blasts
  • Mumbai Train Bombings
  • 26/11 at Mumbai
  • Parliament  attack
  • Godhra Riots
  • Kandhahar Hijack
every one on the road feels this Revulsion against the Terrorism - be it for any Reason.
Indian People never Forget this. They all want an Answer.
Either by Government Action or Police Encounters or the latest theme as suggested in this Movie.
The Jeep Blast killing all the 3 Terrorists is the Major Turning Point of the Movie.
Everyone wished such as this "Anniyan" existed in Real India.
In a way this is a Shankar Movie - not Kamals - the "Change India" theme!
"Kadhalan" "Indian" "Anniyan" "Shivaji" - all these Shankar Movies depict the Common Man's Anger towards the Indian Govt.s ineptitude.
Movie Housed must have received huge claps at
  • Jeep Blast Scene to the Arif killing the Afghan Jihadist.
  • the scene at which the Nerd Hacker supporting Kamal, "He is not a Medhai. He is More than that!"
  • the scene at which the only Police Sgt who saw Kamal refusing to identify him.
Mohanlal resigning the Commissioner Post is bit too much.  Some said his Malayalam accent died. Never!
He could do more being in the Uniform. [read more Encounters!!!]

Like the Controversial Kiran Bedi IPS who was ridiculed by Seniors and given petty posts which led her to Resign from Pinnacle of Service Life - now a mere Caricature in Small Screen Channels "Aap Ki Adalat" "Aap Ki Kacheri"
http://www.kiranbedi.com/
I dont think "Aap Ki Kacheri" series gets more TRPs or Eyeballs.
Sadly, Academcians & Laureates cant Pull Crowd much.
For that you need Clowns, Jokers, Maniacs & Messaihs!
Finally, Satisfied to have seen a "Good Tamil Movie" after a Long Time.
Thanks Kamal Haasan!
You could have done better - in the acting part - feel little like you are so out of touch with acting - the emotions are not there in your face through out the Movie. Except the "Tear" scene - that clicked well.
Dialogs could have been more Tight. Piercing.
Well, it seemed to be a Fast Forward Movie - with No Nonsense.
Thank God there was no "Duet Songs", "Kuthu Paattus" - the never say die Tamil Format!!!

Subject: [ex-iaf] India & Pakistan at War - Nuclear Missiles Launched

During the Cold War, if USA launched a nuke-loaded missile, Soviet Satellites would inform the Soviet army in 3 seconds and in less than 45 seconds Soviet counter-missiles would be on their way.

Recent studies commissioned by US department of Defense included one on nuclear war between India and Pakistan.

This was the scenario

The Pakistan army decides to launch a nuke-missile towards India. They don't need any permission from their government, and promptly order the countdowns.

Indian technology is highly advanced. In less than 8 seconds, Indian army detects the Pak countdown and decides to launch a missile in retribution.

But they need permission from the Government of India.

They submit their request to the Indian President. The President forwards it to the Cabinet. The Prime Minister calls an emergency Lok Sabha session.

The LS meets, but due to several walkouts and severe protests by the opposition, it gets adjourned indefinitely.

The President asks for a quick decision.

In the mean time, the Pak missile failed to take off due to technical failure. Their attempts for a re-launch are still on.

Just then the Indian ruling party is reduced to a minority because a party that was giving outside support withdraws it. The President asks the PM to prove his majority within a week.

As the ruling party fails to win the confidence vote, a caretaker government is installed.

The caretaker PM decides to permit the armed forces to launch a nuclear missile. But the Election Commission says that a caretaker government cannot take such a decision because elections are at hand.

The Election Commission files Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court alleging misuse of power.

The Supreme Court comes to the rescue of the PM, and says the acting!
PM is authorized to take this decision in view of the emergency facing the nation.

Just then one of the Pak missiles successfully took off, but it fell
367 miles away from the target, on its own government building in Islamabad at 11.00 AM.

Fortunately there were no casualties as no employee had reached the office that early. In any case, the nuclear core of the missile had detached somewhere in flight.

The Pakistan army is now trying to get better technologies from China and USA. The Indian Government, taking no chances, decides to launch a nuclear missile of its own, after convening an all-party meeting. This time all the parties agree.

Its three months since the army had sought permission. But as preparations begin, "pro-humanity" , "anti-nuclear" activists come out against the Government's decision.
Human chains are formed and Rasta rokos organized.

In California and Washington endless e-mails are sent to Indians condemning the government and mentioning "Please forward it to as many Indians as possible".

On the Pakistan side, the missiles kept malfunctioning. Some missiles deviate from target due to technical failures or high-speed wind blowing over Rajasthan.

Many of them land in the Indian Ocean killing some fishes.

A missile (smuggled from USA) is pressed into service. Since the Pakistan army is unable to understand its software, it hits it original destination: Russia.

Russians successfully intercepts the missile and in retaliation launches a nuclear missile towards Islamabad. The missile hits the target and creates havoc.

Pakistan cries for help. India expresses deep regrets for what has happened and sends in a million dollars worth of Parle-G biscuits.

Indian missiles lie in the bomb-dump seeking extension of life....

Can free broadband be a reality in India?

Thu, Oct 15 02:42 PM

The internet has become an integral part of human life and further validation of this assertion comes from the fact that Finland has become the first country in the world to make broadband Internet access a right for every Finnish citizen.

Yes, Finland has just passed a law that makes access to broadband a legal right for its citizens. Come July 2010, every person in Finland, which has a population of around 5.3 million, will have the guaranteed right to a one-megabit broadband connection.

This law could pave the way for India to start looking at broadband connection or even basic internet connection as its citizens' legal right, just like freedom of speech and expression.

India is emerging as a hub for information technology and global companies invariably looks toward India to meet their research and development needs and software production demands. So should India go ahead and make this a legal right for its citizens?

"While the internet savvy user of India will hail this move, let's not forget that Finland's total population is 5.5 million, which is 5 per cent of ours. Our primary concern right now should not be broadband access being a legal right, but childhood (and education) being the legal right of every child in the country and tougher laws on child labour. Can we please emulate Babar Ali, the world's youngest headmaster, and ensure that children have a right to be children before they're made to be earning members of the family?" says Jayashree S, a child rights activist.

Yes, it sounds true as it would be very unfair to compare India to Finland, given the gross discrepancies.

But not all think of it in the same way. Nancy, an avid netizen, says, "Internet is a way of life in India now. It is not just the youngsters who are hooked - people from all walks of life have started using the net to their benefit and are paying high prices for the same. It would be good if the rates are lesser, and yes, if it's free in Finland, even if it's 1mbps, why not here too?"

A vast majority in India feels that making a broadband connection a legal right is too farfetched a dream. "Broadband connection should not be a legal right as we have more important issues to deal with. We are lagging in providing even the basic amenities like water or electricity, thinking of legalising broadband is still very far," says Tarun, who works with a leading media house.

It might be too early to start a debate on whether broadband internet can be a natural extension to our legal rights in India. But kudos to the Finnish government for this landmark law. Who knows, this might just be the beginning of a new fight for our rights.

Subject: [panagudi] Never Abandon Your Loved Ones . . .

Hi Guys,

I would like to share with you this inspiring mail….

Never Abandon Your Loved Ones . . .

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan tear open the wall.

Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.

What happened..?

The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years!?!! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind boggling.

Then he wondered, how this lizard survived for 10 years without moving a single step - since its feet was nailed!

So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what has it been doing and what has it been eating? Later, don't know from where appears another lizard, with food in its mouth... AHHH! He was stunned and touched deeply.

For the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years..

Such a love, such a beautiful love!! Such love happened even on this tiny creature... What can love do? It can do wonders!! Love can do miracles!!

Imagine it has been doing it for a tired some 10 yrs, without giving up hope on its partner.

Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with the brilliant mind can't.

As the technology advances, our access to information become faster and faster. But the distance between human beings, was it getting closer as well?

NEVER ABANDON YOUR LOVED ONES. Share this story with everyone that has touched your life and make you grow and understand and feel more about your life. Share it with everyone! May everyone be loved... a quote from Cae Hiew: "Love makes your heart young again and magically erase all your
wrinkles." So, start loving . . .

Mike

May everyone be loved... a quote from Cae Hiew: "Love makes your heart young again and magically erase all your
wrinkles." So, start loving . . .

Mike

founder of the Dravidian Linguistic Association, Thiruvananthapuram.

He had a pivotal role in establishing the International Institute of Tamil Studies.
He had also functioned as vice-chairman of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil.

Born at Vadasery in Kanyakumari district, Subramaniam, a student of Tamil scholar Vaiyapuri Pillai.

He did his doctorate in linguistics from Indiana University in the U.S.
He had also worked in Annamalai University and the University of Kerala.

“I cannot think of anyone when it comes to institution building. Tamil University, the Dravidian Linguistic Association and the International Journal of Dravidian Linguistics journal published by him bear testimony to his calibre as an institution builder and a scholar,” said V. Arasu, head of the Tamil Department in Madras University.

Dr. Arasu pointed out that some of the outstanding scholars in linguistics were students of Subramaniam.

James Reynolds Daniels, former Principal of the Scot Christian College and student of Subramaniam, recalled Subramaniam’s pioneering work of preparing the linguistic map of the regional community in Thiruvananthapuram on the lines of English works published in England and America.

“It was he who got translated into Tamil Rene Wellek’s Theory of Literature.
It is considered the bible for literature students,” he added.
