Description

Be it acting or dancing, Shobana has managed a huge fan following. Born into a family of dancers committed to the arts, she is the neice of the legandary classical dancers-Travancore Sisters-Lalitha, Padmini and Ragini, she took to Bharatanatyam at a very early age. Known for her Abhinaya, clarity of line and strong rythmic command of the idiom she has performed to audiences of connoisseurs both in India and abroad. Shobana is presently teaching Bharatanatyam in Madras. She began as a child artist with Mangala Nayaki and recieved many awards for her films - Rareeram, Ayiram Kanugal, Innalae, Manichitra Thazhu,Thenmavin Kombathu, Sindhoora Rekha and Mazhay Ethumunbe. She has two National awards, three Filmfare best actress awards to her credit and the prestigious Women of the Year award amongst others.
