On 2^nd October, 2008, Unnati celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Unnati's 5^th anniversary. The celebration began by paying a tribute to Father of Indian Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Everybody remembered Bapu by singing Raghupati raghav raja ram. An invocation ceremony also took place to seek blessings of His Almighty through prayers which were offered by Ms. Valli and Ms.Tara in their sweet and melodious voices.

All the guests were welcomed by Mr. Ranga through his welcome speech. As the day was planned to have fun and enjoyment, many games like merry go round, kidnap, one minute show were played where everybody participated enthusiastically. Thanks to Professor Madhavan, Mr. Ranga, Ms. Suman and Ms. Hema who through their efforts made everybody revisit their childhood.

A knowledge check was also done by having quizzes based on Gandhi and Unnati Centre.

The karaoke organized by Mr. Ramesh at the venue made everybody hum to the songs of legendary Kishore Kumar and present day bollywood numbers. Through a speech "Marching ahead with Unnati" Mr. Ramesh Swamy made the audience aware of Unnati, its past, present and future plans.

Interaction and socializing was witnessed at the lunch area where everybody seemed to enjoy the company of others along with a sumptuous meal. The energies were high as post lunch Unnati pass out students shared their experiences and their journey from Unnati to present day jobs. Their confidence was commendable and each and every word said by them touched hearts.

Last but not the least, a lucky draw winner was announced and the programme concluded with vote of thanks given by Ms. Padmini.
